Our stay at Mountain's Edge brought us to a private and quintessential panoramic mountain location. Our B&B, surrounded in thoughtfully cared for luscious flower gardens, was an elegant, fresh, bright and warm residence all wrapped in a gracious welcome! Our hosts, Larry and JoAnne, were generous with both their home and time to ensure we had needed, directions, reservations, trails, water..... JoAnne is a wealth of knowledge and happy to share on the riches of natures' abundance from her many years as a Farm & Forest Kindergarten teacher where her time was dominated outside with her students. I would love to have a weekend retreat with her learning about the simple and eco-rich ways of the earth. We had the pleasure of hiking Mt. Philo state park outside the back door of our B&B and driving just 20 minutes into Burlington to hop on the Island Line Bike path (a must do and don't stop until you reach the end of the causeway because it's magnificent and well worth the extra peddling!) A very pleasurable weekend indeed!

Larry and Joanne are some of the best Airbnb hosts I've yet to experience -- and their house is truly stunning! Despite being new to Airbnb, Larry and Joanne went out of their way to be great hosts -- welcoming, with plenty of suggestions and expert local advice -- but happy to let me retreat and wander through their truly phenomenal gardens and curl up with a book on a rainy evening. The house is open, spacious, comfortable, and with awesome views of the Green Mountains from the front patio and living room. And as advertised, it's just minutes to the top of Mount Philo, which has some of the best views around of the Champlain Valley. Getting to the house is easy, but it feels like you're worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the world. It's only about 25 minutes to downtown Burlington from their house, and you can pick up anything you need in nearby Shelburne. Ask Larry about the farm stands nearby if you're looking for fresh produce -- or (if you're lucky), he and Joanne might even share some of the bounty from their expansive gardens. (Both are Master Gardeners via the American Horticulture Association, so it's worth asking for a quick tour of the grounds!). The room I stayed in was clean, comfortable and private -- ditto the adjoining bathroom. I also enjoyed cooking in their kitchen, and found it had everything I needed for my too-brief stay. I'd love to return sometime!
