The second bedroom in an arty, architect designed apartment, v close to the University of Queensland, bus and CityCat (ferry) stops, 20 minutes ferry or bus to City. Hilltop building with green outlook, large balcony. Room has great natural light, small private courtyard. Shared bathroom (shower) and toilet.
The apartment is part of a small complex of 5, architect designed and built in 1985 (though it has a bit of a 70’s vibe to it). My favourite features of the apartment are the large wooden benches in the kitchen, the sloping ceilings that take advantage of the layout of the building, and the way every window looks out on to green space. I am filling the house with books and my art and craft projects – from crocheted cushions and blankets (adding to the 70’s vibe?) to paper mache masks and birds.
Disponible para huéspedes
As well as their room and bathrooms, guests have access to the kitchen, living room, laundry (washing machine only, no dryer), and both the balcony and private courtyard off their room - which has a washing line. Tea and coffee are available, as well as unlimited wifi and a television with local channels. Guests can also park a car in the driveway; it is not undercover, but is off the street.
Atención a los huéspedes
Guests who are happy looking after themselves most of the time are ideal, because I'm often sleeping or resting in my room (as I have some long term health issues), but I'm very happy to give recommendations for restaurants and activities as well as directions. Everyone is welcome!
Because of my health, the house is pretty relaxed. I would describe it as 'tidy but lived in, not hotel spotless...' For example, I do leave my dishes in the sink if I need to go to bed, so am happy if yours are there for a little while before you wash up too!
Once you check in, your room is yours, I don't go in to clean. I'll provide clean sheets and towels when you ask (or once a week).

Please note, airport pick up is not available; I do not have a car or license.
Essential rules – definitely no smoking, no drugs, no parties, no pets (sorry, there’s no yard).
Appreciated guidelines- clean up common areas including kitchen, and let me know beforehand if you would like to invite anyone else to the apartment.
I am an early 30's environmental and social psychology PhD student, an artist, a big greenie, and into all sorts of art and craft using recycled and reclaimed materials. My place is very relaxed, and I try to keep the art chaos confined to the garage, which is my studio, where I do all my print making, sculpting, jewellery making, sewing, and more. Crocheting and knitting are allowed out of the garage into the living room. I live pretty quietly most of the time, spending time making stock for my craft market stall, reading books (usually murder mysteries lately), listening to podcasts (This American Life is my favourite, though Conversations with Richard Fidler, a Brisbane local, runs a close second), and catching up with friends in West End, which is just a hop over the river away.
