Use our cottage as a base camp to enjoy the beauty of the north woods in Upper Penninsula Michigan. Fishing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, four wheeling await you. Venture out to view the numerous waterfalls, hike the Ottawa National Forest or Sylvania Wilderness, experience the view of the Porcupine Mountains along Lake Superior, drive through the Keweenaw peninsula to Copper Harbor, or tour Pictured Rocks. The UP and all its wonders are waiting for you.

1. Boating, Fishing & Swimming: Lakes and rivers abound, providing great fishing for walleye, northern, musky, bass, perch. It is a boaters’ paradise including miles of shoreline to canoe and kayak.
2. Cycle, hike, as well as mountain bike meandering forest trails as Agonikak National Trail beginning in Watersmeet, Epic Trail in Copper Harbor
3. Waterfalls and Scenic Drives
• Tour the waterfalls nearby: Bond Falls, Meximine (Burned Dam) Falls, Kakabika Falls and Agate Falls
• Black River Scenic Byway takes you along the cascading Black River on a waterfall exploration.
• Munising, surrounded by many waterfalls, leads to Pictured Rocks
• Keewanau Peninsula offers quaint harbor towns, 10 light houses to tour, waterfalls, views from Brockway Mountain, scuba diving shipwrecks in the Lake Superior underwater preserve
4. National & State Parks:
• Ottawa National Forest offers a beautiful landscape of lakes, rivers and waterfalls
• Sylvania Wilderness preserves acres of virgin forest and pristine lakes that we are privileged to camp, hike, fish, kayak & canoe, cross-country ski & snowshoe
• Porcupine Mountains State Park near the Lake Superior shore line, well-worn mountains, and scenic waterfalls.

5. ATV: The east/west trail connects with the Marenisco and Iron River trails, wide and in great shape since it serves as a winter snowmobile trail.
6. Hunting: The Ottawa National Forest offers hundreds of thousands acres for a variety of hunting opportunities ranging from small game to large animals.
7. Snowmobile: Two major snowmobile trails intersect at Watersmeet. There are endless riding destinations from here.
8. Cross-Country Skiing & Snowshoeing: Outfittters in the area rent gear
9. Downhill Skiing & Snowboarding: Ski Brule Mountain, Big Powderhorn, or Indianhead

The property is in a strategic location, just over the northern border of WI in the upper peninsula of MI. It offers the seclusion of being adjacent to the Ottawa National Forest , but has easy accessibility to the many inland lakes, hiking trails, state parks, snowmobile trails as well as proximity to town. From this hub, there is something for everyone. Motorcycles can take scenic drives through the Porcupine Mountains or Black River Forest Scenic Byway. Snowmobiles and ATV's can wind through the trails and forestry roads. Lakes abound for boating and fishing. National and State forests offer great hiking, scenic views, hunting, and in winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Watersmeet is a great location to begin experiencing the activities you are looking forward to in the Northwoods!

For many years John and I traveled to the Watersmeet, MI area to camp in the state and national parks, and snowmobile the many trails. Finally, we decided to purchase a small home to use any time of the year. Eventually we found what would become known to friends and family as the "Little House". The wooded property not only bordered the Ottawa National Forest, but it also provided easy access to the activities we enjoyed. From our location, we hiked the forest paths and walked along Duck Creek listening to the peaceful sound of water tumbling over rocks looking. We could jump onto the snowmobile trail with our sleds or ATV's. With the many lakes surrounding us, we could easily trailer the kayaks and fishing boat for leisurely days on the water. Several waterfalls are a short drive away. The location is semi-secluded, yet walking distance to town. Recently we bought a retirement home in the Watersmeet area, and have decided to share the comfort of our "Little House" and its central location with people such as you. It offers the opportunity to branch out in any direction to to take advantage of all Upper Peninsula has to offer. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we did.
