There's no privacy, but the energy is super, and is an economic solution for travelers who want to meet real locals, as opposed to staying at a hostel.

Also: If you are indeed interested in renting out the entire apartment ($150 per night with a minimum of 2 nights), that can be arranged! Please inquire with any and all questions in regards to that option! A photo of the bedroom is included in the slideshow, if that option interests you.

---------------------Living Room---------------------

The futon couch does indeed open up to a full size queen, by squeezing it from both sides and lowering slowly. Sheets, Pillow cases, blanket, bath towel, are located in bottom right door of dresser. Ceiling fan switch is located left of apartment door. Remotes for t.v. are located in coffee table in the top left door. a) Turn on T.V. and DVD player to (for Netflix or Internet) b) Hit the red Netflix button c) Hit center button for 'ok' and Netflix should pop up with the menu. There are six lights, mostly led/fluorescent, so it's not imperative that you turn them off when you leave the house at night. There is an empty dresser that has 6 doors for your things. There is a storage room, with key where you can place large suitcases, surfboards, etc. during your stay.

------------------------Kitchen------------------------

There is plenty of space reserved for your food on the left side of the fridge and in the freezer. There is a water filter dispenser that you can re-fill when it gets low by grabbing a pitcher and simply refilling from the top. The sink has a soap dispenser located on the upper right, including a food compactor switch on the left of the window behind the planter, in case the drain is full of food from washing dishes. Forks/knifes are located in the door on the far right of the sink. Pots and pans inside the oven. Now as far as the oven goes, the top is used often but the oven itself is a little tricky and isn't used often. But can be. There are four lights in the kitchen. One in the planter that can remain on. The only lights that should be be turned off when not in use are the above ceiling lights, as they are normal bulbs. (I will be getting LEDs soon).

----------------------Bathroom-----------------------

The shower is turned on by rotating the handle and pulling down on a metal ring located below the bath faucet as the water runs. If you prefer a bath, simply pull on the toggle to close the drain. It can get really hot so monitor the temperature as it flows, as it's starts off cold, but eventually gets very very hot if you're not adjusting the dial throughout. Make sure the shower curtain is closed completely and the shower head is pointed down initially, as the water may spray out onto the floor and the bath mats will get soaked. *** Make sure to turn on the Air Conditioner before having a shower *** It reduces the humidity in the bathroom as the window remains secured for privacy. Plus Los Angeles is known for hot temperatures to begin with, so the AC is going to feel nice after your hot (or cold) shower. lol The plunger and other supplies are located on the bottom shelf of the bathroom closet. Toilet paper can be found in the white cabinet next to the door. There is an empty medicine cabinet for guests, including the top three shelves in the bathroom closet can be used as well for all of your toiletries, towels, etc.

Puedo dormir a cualquier cosa.

If renting out the living room space, I, -or- an Airbnb guest, will be sleeping in the bedroom, and I occasionally travel (sometimes) so you may end up with the whole apartment if there are no bookings for the bedroom (which is also listed). The apartment (eg; the bathroom) is shared, so keep this in mind before booking.
I'm usually home working on my art, but I'm easy going. Music is awesome and if you play an instrument... play to your heart's content. I can sleep to anything. I have extra easels, lighting and even some art supplies if you want to do art, as my home easily transforms into an art studio on a whim! If time permits I will even show you around. And if you're here for more then a few days and are up for it, we could take a road trip to the desert of majestic Joshua Tree! :) [a pic is included in the photo album]. And at the risk of sounding redundant, I encourage my guests to explore their creative talents and do as much art as humanly possible during their stay. After all; Los Angeles is home to some fantastic art, and is the mecca for creative exploration, whether it's in the form of pop-up art galleries (& street art festivals) or film and theatre!

Michael and his apartment are both warm, positive, and beautiful! It's so nice to be in a peaceful, zen environment! Michael went out of his way to make sure my yorkie and I were absolutely comfortable, even going out to get a doggie gate so my puppy could look outside and have some fresh air. He also fed him while I was out! The area is so close to many things to do in West Hollywood. I highly recommend!

Nice area, v convenient. The place is great and the decor is amazing. Michael was very helpful and let me stay in the bedroom while his another guest was staying in the living room. However, the place is near to the crossroad and the cars driving by were pretty loud and it was kinda hard to fall asleep. Other than that the place is great and I recommend it.

Perfil de usuario de Michael

I am an established artist (of Anishinaabe ancestry), currently living in Los Angeles, CA.

My interests include reading (everything from the great Russian authors, like Dostoevsky, Pasternak & Turgenev to the Beatniks like Kerouac & Burroughs), sculpting, painting (acrylic on canvas), swimming, surfing (not very good), running (even the occasional marathon), hiking, gardening (a lot), and survival studies (primitive fire-skills, plant identification, shelter, etc.), skydiving, repelling, scuba, internal martial arts, meditation & star-gazing (yeah - I know - that sounds corny - but it's not as bad as listing 'Interpretive Dancing' as an interest (no offense to the art - I'm sure it has it's perks). And 80's movies - yes I said it... I love 80's movies (especially the ones with the really bad acting) - those are my favorite!. Okay - yes... now you can declare me as an official dork.

My personal philosophy is extremely malleable and cannot be defined or explained in a sentence or two. So instead, I'll share a few intimate thoughts about how I view nature and life. All things are connected (or as some like to say - interconnected). There is no separation between one thing and the next. It is all made of the same matter. The rocks, water, minerals, plant-life, and even thoughts are all one and the same. The division and expansion of all things is evident in everything within the known universe. We view separation, when we decide that that 'thing' is not useful to us or has not been exposed to us in a way that benefits our particular 'culture', or when the rituals of everyday survival distract us from silent clarity and existentialism. 'Constructs' are then created to simplify and unite the 'tribe' to strengthen the so called 'Natural Selection' process, through the elimination of those things that don't provide tangible results within the immediate environment. Meditative observation of Nature is the language of truth and ultimately contains all the seeds of enlightenment for anyone seeking a 'way' to experience life in it's purest form (without words)... as all great revelations are born through nothing more than... silence and observation. Oh, and ironically... exposure to other cultures (as they are just as natural as the great red-wood tree) At some point, one will discover that micro-cosomos and the macro-cosmos contain the same patterns, and when the overwhelming feeling of not knowing how important you are, occurs - just remember, since all things are interconnected and you were created... you serve a magnificent role in the great design, called the 'universe'. All answers are within, as you are born from the same carbon and hydrogen that the stars were formed from. Which reminds me of one more idea I used to propose to a handful of people... Could it be possible that if 'humans' are born from the stars, then the universe is just as confused as we are? Okay, I got carried away with this one... ooops. So yeah - my personal philosophy is extremely malleable.

I like all movies, music & books that don't suck. Aka, 'Transformers': Sucks - Marching Band Music: Sucks - 50 Ways to Use Feminine Hygiene Products in a Manly Manner, by B. Koz: Sucks

I enjoy the company of eccentrics (or impoverished existentialists), and anyone who DOES NOT judge a person based on their skin color, beliefs, handicaps, religion, spirituality, etc., etc. In other words, I enjoy all people who try to walk the righteous path and who are of integrity, pride and possess the rare ability to dream and evoke hope in others.

I would like to learn more about plant/herb-medicine. I would also like to simply share experiences with people from different walks of life and backgrounds. For me - exposure is the key to wisdom - exposure to nature and to cultures other than your own. In exchange, I can teach primitive fire skills (it truly is a spiritual awakening) and as an actor, would love to share the inner workings or the art & the industry with anyone willing to learn. I also sculpt, paint & illustrate and can share my knowledge with young aspiring artists. In addition, I've been an apprentice in the internal art of Aikido and Tai-jistu and have instructed others in the past.

It may seem cliche; but for me, the most amazing thing I have seen... was the first time I saw the stars in Christ Church, Barbados. You don't get to see many star-filled nights growing up in the inner city.

In summary; I welcome any and all questions regarding my listing and other pertinent (or impertinent) details that will put you at ease!

Omnia Causa Fiunt!
Michael
