El lugar

Any questions or anything pls feel free to call or text. We have lot of guests and its difficult to manage expectations especially for non yalie visitors as house is really geared for no frill Yalies.

Cosy, ideal for Yale visitors. The room is part of a victorian home that has been a welcoming spot for Yalies for last 4 years. It is not a hotel. It is a lived-in space and has many visitors. Therefore if you are expecting a hotel, this is not it. Cleanliness and organization is important for me the host and I hope it is important to you as well but please keep in mind sometimes because of people checking in, checking out, cooking, studying, typing, printing assignments, house gives a "lived-in" look.

Price is lower than what comparable homes ask for on Airbnb. Amenities and proximity to Yale is comparable if not better than a lot, if not most, of the options on Airbnb.

But if you are for immaculate cleanliness a hotel is probably a better option (at three times the price in downtown New Haven).

Also note, when in town, I often end up crashing out in the living room couch - full disclosure. House has a lived-in look. You will see residents luggage in living room or people coming in and out.

Checkin Process
First, please follow security protocol process and let yourself inside Lilly Pad.

I do not charge a cleaning fee unlike many other listings, and to assure that you get clean sheets at time of checkin please pick up two pillow cases (bottom boxes) and two bedsheets from the labelled red and black boxes on the wall at the entrance. Please use one bedsheet for the bed and, for hygiene purposes, other bedsheet as a layer for inbetween duvet/blanket and bed. Also pick up towels from the top slot of boxes.

Checkout Process
I do not charge a cleaning fee unlike many other listings. Therefore I request that at the time of your checkout, pls strip all bed sheets and pillow cases that you used and put them in labelled white laundry bins next to washer on the 1st floor. Pls also put your used towels in the laundry bin next to labelled bin next to washer. Used towels and pillow covers go in one bin. Used bedsheets go into the other two bins.

Kindly also empty your room dustbin into the garbage bin in the kitchen and return the dustbin into the room.  Also if you are on 3rd floor rooms, please leave the AC running on high cool (only Oak Room has AC). Thanks!

The properties are exactly as shown and described. All rooms and common spaces are fully furnished. Good wifi signal and good safety equipments. Recommended for people visiting New Haven. Big plus: 1 minute walking from Stop & Shop, 4 minutes from the Elm + York center, 6 minutes to Chapel St (which will lead you to everywhere else, including New Haven Green), around 15 minutes to the Yale medical centers.

Aly was a great host. He was explicit and clear in his instructions and the room is in a nice house right near Yale. Highly recommend!

It was better than expected for the price. Aly is fantastic, and the other house guests were too. I'd stay again.

First of all, I want to say that even though Aly wasn't at his house when I stayed there with my boyfriend, he gave us accurate directions on how to check in (including how to open a lock and set off an alarm). I didn't meet Aly so this is nothing personal, but I would never stay in his house again. First of all, the house was super dirty, Aly mentions how this is not a super clean house, but there were spider webs in the stairs, horrible odors in the kitchen and dirt in the house in general. Not paying a cleaning fee is not an excuse for this, the host even asked for us to clean the bathroom, which I believe is normal (clean up after yourself) but after seeing it, it led me believe that he doesn't clean it at all, and trusts that everyone will do it (which of course doesn't always happen). The room was dirty as well, the pillows had holes in them and we could see a spring coming out of the old and dirty mattress. This is not acceptable. Of course this was cheap, but not enough for this. The linens were still in their original package (cheap kind from Walmart), after seeing the house and the towels, I was glad, but I think washing sheets before using them is is the right way. Finally, the noises were constant and loud all night. We could hear cars and drunk people, and since you can't close the window because there is a fan on it, we didn't rest well. I would never stay in this house again. Also, considering that the host asked me to review my stay in private if it wasn't a perfect one, and seeing how others say that the house is so clean, leads me to believe that the other recent reviews in this listing are not honest, because the amounts of dirt, dust, etc we saw cannot be achieved in two weeks. Again, this is nothing personal against Aly, I didn't even meet him, but I have been using airbnb for a while and I believe that honest reviews are important, as I don't like to get to a house and find out the ugly truth if I can avoid it from reading previous guests experiences.

Respuesta de Aly:
People cook in the kitchen. So I can't imagine odors of anything other than cooking. Sorry for your negative experience. Next time please do not take a last minute booking, arrive at 12.30 am or not have a US number to talk to you in case your expectations are out of line. Finally if the place was as you describe - quite in some detail from a short stay lasting from 12.30 am to 9.30 am - you should have simply cancelled and asked for a refund or another host who would be willing to accommodate you at 12.30 am checkin.

I have a cosy little home called the Lilly Pad which is second house off of Elm Street. I host Yale students and have been doing that for a few years.

Guests have access to their keyed room, washer dryer with basic laundry detergents, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge television, high speed wireless Internet and bicycles to get around town.

If you see my calendar blocked and are looking for something short or long term I may still have other stay options available. Inquire.
