Argraig is a gorgeous listed cottage in Snowdonia National Park. It is a wooded garden retreat in the heart of the mountains, close to lakes, 15 minutes drive to the sea, or 20 mins to Snowdon, close to to Zip World, Bounce Below, Antur Stiniog Downhill biking, Coed y Brenin cycle trails, Port Meirion, or Ffestiniog railway steam trains. There's a local pub in village and another within walking distance both serving food..
Argraig is a 3 bed room 1850's slate cottage in the village of Maentwrog steeped in history . Retreat from your busy lives to the peaceful meditative homely space within- with original features of slate and wooden floors and artistic mix old and modern decoration and furnishings. The house has been freshly painted and kitchen and bathroom updated for 2017 and features an original brass bed in the master bedroom. There are original sash windows to enjoy the glorious views.
A well behaved dog/pet would be welcome to join you on your holiday but could I request that dogs are not to be allowed on beds and be careful not to scratch the floor or furnishings.
Experience rustic living with wood burning stove and multi fuel fired central heating. The house has a comfortable sitting room with a large sofa and wood burning stove making evenings cosy- I will leave a fire ready to light in the wood burner in the lounge. An oil filled radiator is available for instant heat in colder seasons. There is a 40 inch TV with a DVD player and a selection of DVDs- but no TV reception. Some books and board games are available on the bookcase.
Argraig has a lovely kitchen with original slate floor and a table seating 6 people, the kitchen has been updated in 2017- There is an electric oven and hob, washing machine, micro wave, electric kettle, toaster, cafetiere, fridge, separate freezer, bone china in the cupboards and a large selection of cooking utensils.
The bath room has been refurbished in 2017, with electric shower and bath- the water is heated by an electric immersion heater in summer time or by the stove in the kitchen.. Hair dryer, iron, ironing board . shampoo and hand wash/soap provided.
All bed linen is provided; fresh pillow cases, duvet with cover and sheets - There is also a bedspread/blanket on each bed . Further blankets are variable in the living room along with an electric fleece and hot water bottles in the cupboard. Towels are- provided on request.
The house has three bedrooms. The main bedroom has a brass double bed - with views across to Plas Tan Y Bwlch. Wardrobe, antique dressing table with wash stand and bedside tables with lamps.
The middle room has a single bed with a pull out mattress for the second guest, wardrobe and drawers with lamp. ..and lovely views.
The third bed room has a double bed , wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps. There is a additional thin mattress which could be added to the large main bedroom or used in the lounge on the large comfy couch.
Outside there is a gorgeous private garden with steps leading to a slate patio area for relaxing and dining in the daytime and evening. There are two tables and 6 chairs and an umbrella.There is an oil drum so that you can light a fire. The house is set in woodland with glorious views. In the early evening you will see horse shoe bats as your sit and smell the honey suckle and on fine evenings see the reds and oranges of the sun setting.
The nearest shop is in Penrhyndeudraeth is a well stocked SPAR shop with all you need including fresh veg. For bigger shops Porthmadog (6 miles away) has a Lidl, Aldi and Tesco, as well as delis and a wholefood shop. Blaenau Ffestiniog is 4 miles away and has a Coop.

This is the perfect getaway retreat- see what it feels like to have a break from phones and ...detox from devices and free your mind for a while. If you need to make a call or check your phone you can get a signal from the top of the garden.
Jenny your host has taught mindfulness meditation for many years and the house has the atmosphere of calm. The name Argraig means 'of rock' as the house is built into rock rather like a cave.

You can reach Argraig up the 56 steps or from the back road to the rear of the property. You have use of a slated area at the front of the house, private garden with patio and wood. You have the whole house to yourselves. The house is tucked away and the garden is peaceful and secluded. The is lots to do in Snowdonia National Park and beautiful nature to explore for walkers,,ramblers and cyclists.

I live about 5 miles away ( about 10 minutes by car) so you will have a quiet and uninterrupted stay.
If you are interested in mindfulness mediation, I am a qualified mindfulness teacher (MBCT and MBSR)and could give you or your group instruction on meditation over half a day/full day £50-£120 per session. Or a longer teacher led retreat could be offered. Also it may be possible to arrange days out with Jenny appreciating the beauty and hidden places of the local area. The third bedroom has a single bed with a pull out mattress underneath. There is no wi-fi or TV satelite channels and phone reception is limited to the upstairs, front bedroom or up the garden. You may need to prepare to be 'mobile free' which could be more relaxing than you might imagine as you start to let go of your phone devices.
If not the local pub has wi-fi!

- A well behaved pet is allowed.
- small children will need to be supervised on the steps at the front and back of the property
-slate steps can be uneven and hazardous and slippy in various weather conditions
