Joe and I moved to Guatemala in 2014 from Denver, Colorado. While we may have been looking for a more relaxed lifestyle, we've certainly kept busy renovating our new house, developing a food forest, building a treehouse, and most recently, keeping track of our three rambunctious kittens! When we aren't working on projects around Casa Motmot, we're happy to let lattes, hammock swinging and seasonal harvests fill our time. We love meeting travelers and tourists and are thrilled to be able to share our little piece of paradise with folks from all walks of life!
Casa Motmot is named for the seasonal Blue-throated Motmot (Aspatha gularis) that nest on our property. Though we have many many species of birds that live here or pass through annually, the motmots have really won us over.
