Karen and I run Cledan Valley in Mid Wales along with some (sort of) help from our small children.
Karen was bought up in Switzerland, France and the US before returning to the UK. I moved to North Wales as a child and have stayed in Wales ever since.
We met whilst living in Aberystwyth after University and moved in together after a month - ten years on and we still like each other. Karen loves keep fit and is a keen recreational gymnast (and coach). I'm teaching myself to make wooden furniture in my spare time.
When we moved to Carno we started falling into a smallholding lifestyle with chickens, bees and then some pigs. We began growing most of our veg and fruit and then, when buying a field to keep some livestock in stumbled across a farmer who was winding down a tipi site ready for his retirement.
We love the spot and you've guessed it! We took on the campsite too and created Cledan Valley.
Karen and I love to travel and our work sometimes takes us to exciting places but mostly we love sunny days in the hills looking at bees, going for a run and chasing our kids about.
Whilst we are happy sleeping under a tarp anywhere on earth we appreciate that for some people and families that's not ideal. Some of our best memories have been made whilst eating, sleeping and playing outside in magical little spots so we wanted to create a place where others can experience such things without discomfort or hassle.
We encourage our kids to find adventure everywhere and still try to look at life the same way ourselves. Sometimes you need to lay under a tree with a book or glass of wine and sort life out in your head; sometimes you need thrills and excitement. Here you can do both.
We hope you come to stay and look forward to seeing you here!
