Greg's place is three short blocks up Boyland Street from the Ralph Av stop (exiting the west end of the station) with easy self check-in. Third time here, the rooms all had fresh bedding and comfortable mattresses, and Greg is down-to-earth, totally upbeat in communication, and flexible about bookings. This room has a unique feature as well: with a full-length mirror on the inside of the door, there's also a skylight almost directly overhead – sort of like a "light panel" used in photo studios, but without the artificial color spectrum. So during the day, at least, you can gawk at your sensational countenance in the most natural, even daylight – a selfie op if ever there was one – "lit" as if by a professional. All of which might prompt the question: do we have a "lituation" here? This term had apparently been bouncing around the 'hood (and curiously enough, I learned it from another airbnb listing in Bed Stuy) when Brooklyn hip hop artist Fabolous popularized it in his 2014 track of the same name. Fab (a local celebrity with a recently minted "Key to Brooklyn") originally told MTV News that it refers simply to a situation that is "lit", i.e. "happening": “a situation can be calm, and you can turn it up and get it a little lit." You'd think that fits Greg's place and this room to a T, right? But he later expanded on the definition (in a "rap PSA" for Noisey), explicating that a lituation may be identified by the following four elements: 1. Money, 2. Women, 3. Liquor, 4. Drugs (optional). And having found none of the above in my room, I must conclude that no, we are not looking at a lituation in this stricter sense. (Leaving no stone unturned, I lastly call to your attention the botanical term "lituate," meaning "forked with the points turned slightly outward", as in lituate fungi – to use the classic, if shopworn, example – but no mushrooms were observed during my stay, so this cannot be described with any certainty as lituate either – which is perhaps just as well.) Now if a full-on lituation sounds like your scene, that "other" airbnb down the road might be right up your alley – but if you just wanna chill – and yes, there is A/C – in a down-home, relaxed environment, that could shed some light on your best features, then Greg's place is the route to scoot.
