Wild Lotus Camp is a eco adventure on Montserrat, a remote volcanic Caribbean island where you can get away from it all to reconnect with nature and re-nourish your soul.
Our eco camping retreat is nestled at the foot of the Centre Hills, the luscious rain forest of our stunning island. We have glamorous 4 x 4m Lotus Belle Tents and 1x 5m Lotus Belle Tents set on a secluded 4 acre site where you can experience hiking, snorkelling and stargazing, and soak up the local culture with the help of our friendly guides. The sleek and aesthetically pleasing Lotus design maximises usable head-height space across the whole footprint of the tent. Our tents perform superbly well in tropical climates. With two doors and two windows all with zipped in mosquito nets, you can let the cool breezes in and keep the mozzies out! Our 4m Lotus Belle tents comfortably sleep up to four persons and our 5 m tent sleeps up to 6. We also have a wooden star gazer yurt that sleeps 8 and has its own private bathroom and kitchen, great for youth groups and/or study groups. On site there is a bar and kitchen built by hand from bamboo and local wood. The bar has a lovely rustic feel, with views out over the Caribbean sea with Redonda and Nevis on the horizon.

Montserrat commands you to stop, stand and stare. You cannot but pay homage to the awesome beauty of this island and the power of nature to both destroy and renew.
We're the island with the longest erupting volcano that laid to waste the capital city of Plymouth and 2/3rds of the islands land mass is in the exclusion zone. Viewing the volcano and the buried city of Plymouth sparks fascination, fear, wonder and sympathy. And a few goose bumps. It s an absolute must see.
Home to the entire populations of eight globally threatened vertebrate and plant species, and trees that are over 200 years old, the lush green rainforests are utterly enchanting. Hike through the hills as the morning dew releases the aroma of the bark of ancient cinnamon trees, said to stir the appetite, invigorate the senses, and produces a feeling of sheer joy.
There is no light pollution here. Stay in our fabulous Stargazer tent, drift to sleep as you gaze up through a transparent roof at thousands of brilliant stars - and wake to the song of tropical birds.
The earth provides. Mango, papaya, pineapple, soursop, lemongrass, mint and cashew nuts all grow wild at the campsite. Depending on the season you can pick your own fruit for your breakfast smoothie and gather fresh leaves for herbal teas.
A 20 minute downhill walk takes you to Bunkum Bay, one of the best and most secluded beaches on the island. The spectacle provided by our black sand beaches is hard to describe: the fine black sand, the range of colour from shimmering black to granite grey, makes for a perfect contrast against frothy white surf and azure blue skies. Plentiful schools of fish and vibrant reef make this beach a pleasure for snorkelers.
There are 2 BBQ's for guest use and a campfire is lit most nights. Cold beers and a good red wine can be had from behind the bar.
For all that there is to do here on Montserrat simply doing nothing is as good for the soul. Relax and unwind in our bamboo bar set aloft in the treetops. The air is always filled with birdsong, the rustle of the leaves in the breeze or the chorus of cocks crowing in the distance. When evening falls the night music of crickets and tree-frogs echo through the hills. Here you may truly meditate and deepen your awareness of the sound of nature’s own peace and quiet.

We like to ensure that guests enjoy their privacy but we are up for beer at any time you like! Job opportunities are scarce in Montserrat so we support a group of extremely talented young people to gain work experience through sharing their skills and local knowledge with visitors to the island. They will happily take you on forest hikes or spearfishing to catch your supper. They have amazing knowledge about the health benefits of the local plants and on a practical note they will show you how to crack open a coconut to get your fresh coconut water for breakfast! Many of them are talented artists and so you can also get some great souvenirs. They can be around as little or as much as you need them.

We work hard to reduce our carbon footprint and to conserve our environment. The site is connected to the mains water and electricity and we are striving to increase our use of renewable energy. We recycle and use solar power for additional lighting across the site. Apart from the yurt which is self-contained, our compost toilet system and outdoor showers are shared. Though basic they are kept spotlessly clean and you can enjoy our complimentary soaps and shower gels made locally from natural ingredients. Please bring your own towels as these are not provided.
