So sorry; this was a shared space with other guests. A few times we found food and unwashed dishes left overnight, and we had no idea whose it was. We try to put food away in the fridge whenever we see them uncovered, but we can't keep an eye on the guesthouse 24/7. Although we have put in our house manual to not leave food or unwashed dishes overnight, we can't always control the responsibility of other guests. I think one of the guests might have left a bag of flour open, so we will go through the cabinets this week to check the source.
Anyways, the "bugs" issue have been resolved after we read this public review left by college students Leo and his friend, who never communicated this issue to us for the 2-week duration of their stay. We have gone through each cabinets in the guesthouse to make sure all flour-products and cereal bags have been sealed properly so moths no longer have access to them (moths no longer present now). Every guest currently staying at the guesthouse have been informed that house rules shall be strictly enforced, which includes but not limited to: no food left outside unsealed, wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans after every use, and wipe down all countertops and surfaces immediately after every use. Another additional rule we included to ensure guests' compliance is that we will conduct unannounced visits to the guesthouse, and if the place is found to be dirty with bugs, we will hire professional cleaning service, which will be deducted from each current guests' security deposit. We take cleanliness issues seriously, and if future guests have any issues, it is greatly appreciated if these issues can be brought to our attention immediately so we can help resolve the issue for a pleasant, comfortable stay for all guests.
