If you're looking for peace and quiet, beautiful countryside and wildlife - this is it. Hidden away between Malhamdale and Wharfedale at the end of a private road, this is a perfect romantic bolt hole for two. It's a stylish, comfortable studio with shower room, well-equipped kitchen and comfy kingsize bed. Right on the doorstep is a network of footpaths and mountain biking routes. An ideal place for quiet relaxation, walking and bird watching.
To arrive here, you'll drive almost a mile off the public road, on a single-track tarmac drive through private ground. If you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of the deer on your way.
Your private space is a light and airy self-contained studio (our guest suite, which is an annexe to the main house). The solid, stone-built hideaway was recently converted to the highest standards and is a bright, clean space. There's a king size bed, sofa and dining table with two chairs. A radio and TV are provided (selection of DVDs available - no TV signal).
The kitchen is equipped with fridge, hob and combi microwave/conventional oven. A kettle and toaster are provided, along with crockery, cutlery and utensils. In fact, there's everything you need to rustle up your own meals in the privacy of your own private space. A welcome pack of tea, ground coffee, milk, bread and butter is supplied at no charge.
The bathroom has a large walk-in shower enclosure, basin and WC.
The space is kept toasty throughout with underfloor heating.
At night, snuggle up in soft cotton sheets and watch the stars through the sky-lights. The peace and quiet is amazing... but the owls can be quite noisy.
The house is located next to a private reservoir, with spectacular wildlife and bird watching opportunities. There's access straight on to the extensive network of public footpaths that crosses the National Park. It's possible to walk to Gordale Scar in one direction, or the famous 'Angel at Hetton' pub in the other. The Dales High Way long distance walking route passes the reservoir. Mountain biking to suit all abilities is right on the doorstep and the area is a magnet for road cyclists too.
If that all sounds a bit too energetic, there's masses more to explore locally. Skipton is 15 minutes drive away for local shopping or a relaxing boat trip on the canal. Beautiful Malhamdale and Wharfedale are right on the doorstep. Just a little further afield, there's Bolton Abbey, the Settle-Carlisle Railway and the awe-inspiring landscape of the Three Peaks. For high end shopping, Leeds is easily accessed by train - and Harrogate is less than an hour by car with its Turkish Baths and well-loved Betty's tea rooms. You'll be spoiled for choice.
