There is a lot to say about how much we enjoyed staying here. A spoiler: we would stay here again in a heartbeat, and feel like we really lucked out by meeting these fun, generous folks.
Let's start with the room: we had a quiet, comfortable bedroom which was outfitted with water, fixings for tea and coffee, shortbread cakes. This is off of a little separated hallway that includes a bathroom with a shower and huge jacuzzi tub, and a separate exit into the garden. So, even though this is a bedroom in a home, it feels very private if you want it to.
Mike prepared a fabulous breakfast that kept us going for most of the day. Even better than the breakfast, was talking to both Mike and Angela. They're both interesting, genuine people that seem to be able to comfortably engage in a discussion on any topic. This conversation was even more enjoyable with the little dram of whiskey that was kindly offered each night (not so "little" really).
Mike and Angela gave us great tips on the local attractions that we would like to visit, and enjoyed hearing us tell them each day what we had done. Mike pointed us (immediately) upon our arrival the first night to the seals that spend time on Portgordon's beach. So we were able to walk out and see about 5 adults plus one baby laying on the beach with more further out in the water. This was an amazing experience (especially for Beth, a real animal lover).
This house is well situated as a base of operations for hitting the malt whiskey trail, the Scottish Dolphin Centre, and the Castle Trail among other attractions. We loved it as a comfortable home while we visited these sites, and we consider Mike and Angela to be friends after just 2 nights.
