"This is not a hotel"....was the response we received from our "host" when we asked about towels upon arrival. He was quite unapologetic and did not consider it HIS responsibility, as an AirBnB host, to provide TOWELS for his guests. This lack of towels was NOT mentioned in the ad, and had we known, we would NOT have used his accommodations.
In addition, there was no top sheet for us on the tiny, uncomfortable bed.
Our feet were hanging over its edge, which did not contribute to a restful sleep, nor did the fact that the curtains failed to block the morning sunlight.
By the way, we also never found a wastebasket---not a necessity, as we had plastic bags, but certainly unexpected.
And the "view of the mountain" promised in the ad was almost entirely obscured by a series of tall buildings. Our view was of concrete and a small patch of grass in the distance. This is expected in many parts of Montreal, but don't advertise a view you do not have.
"This is not a hotel"... yeah, no kidding. Had we known we were to be camping, we would have brought sleeping bags, our own towels, sheets, garbage bags, etc.
People choose AirBnB not only for the price, but for the added comfort of being in a home. To inconvenience your guests with respect to such necessities as towels and sheets, without prior warning, is UNACCEPTABLE.
Although we managed to enjoy the rest of our trip, our accommodations were the lowlight.
We will now think twice about ever using AirBnB again and may just stick to reliable hotels...where we KNOW there will be towels and sheets.
