Otros aspectos destacables

Weather in the desert can be a real hazard. When it is hot please expect to need 2 gallons of water per person per day minimum if you plan on moving at all, it is recommended to consume a gallon per day per person if you are sedentary in that kind of heat. Daytime temps in the summer climb over the 110 degree mark. In the winter it can be quite cold at night, sometimes freezing for a week at a time. Winter storms and Summer monsoons are also something to consider when planning to travel to the high desert. Flash flooding can get you stranded and the wet desert floor can be difficult to camp on. This is our weather resource, you may use this to roughly gauge your camping weather. (URL HIDDEN)

Friends and I wanted to do an overnight Joshua Tree trip, but of course all the sites within the park were already booked out. Luckily we found this place, and I'm glad we did. Most places just offer a small plot of land or place to pitch your tent (which is what we were expecting), but Alicia's place did more in that, not only did you get your plot of land (which was nicely spaced out), you were also provided with a fire pit, mini grill for fire put, tables and chairs. They also provided a portal potty, but it was the nicest I've been in. They really maintain and keep it clean. It even has lights leading up to it, a mat, and a bountiful supply of wipes and tissues. Location wise, I really loved how secluded we were, off the main road but close to the north entrance of the park. It was also great because the location was secluded, but still so open, in that we weren't really surrounded by much that it felt free-Ing. Especially under the night sky. Nothing was in your way of your view of the stars. Alicia was great, we didn't get to meet because she had an important event, but she was able to manage everything well (we had a little issue with our firewood) and communicating with her was never an issue. 10/10 would come again.

The campsite is not too far from JTNP, so it's a great option if park campsites are full, which they were. The site is very open and exposed to the elements, so be aware there is no shade (as expected in the desert, I guess). Communication with the host was excellent, via text message, very prompt and I was greeted immediately upon arrival. Alicia was very nice and helpful as to showing me around the facilities and also added some tips on visiting JTNP. The place has water, although she did recommend bringing bottled for drinking. Port-a-potty on site. The site met my expectations, in general. The only issue I had was the vicious wind that picked up at night (which was forecast and the host had previously warned about). It was obvious that my tent was not up to the task as a lot of fine sand kept blowing into it. Placing a foldable table and parking the car in front of the tent door helped mitigate the problem. Thankfully, the wind died down at around 1 a.m. In these conditions, a very hermetic tent is preferable. If high winds are in the forecast, ask about prevailing direction before you set up tent.

This is a great camping option near Joshua Tree. We spent the day at JT and camped here at night. Alicia greeted us immediately and was very easy to communicate with throughout the process.
