I found this great 1950s apartment with large bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a sweet location so I've been listing it on airbnb to help pay for the renovations. So far I've had the hardwood floors refinished, the walls and ceilings painted, and I'm slowly bringing it back to its former glory. Thank you to everyone for helping me fund my project by staying here as my short-term roommate.
I came to Ottawa from Calgary to work for the Government of Canada. I chose this neighbourhood because it is exactly located between The Glebe, Centretown, and the Byward Market. Although it is expensive to live downtown, I love my neighborhood because it is quiet, friendly and has so much to offer. I also like living beside the Rideau Canal. In winter I can see people skating and in summer I can see boats, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. The canal is so beautiful for running and cycling along the paved pathways or walking the natural paths close to the water. During the Tulip Festival there are thousands of flowers and they look amazing.
Here I can find everything I need: restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops, banks, bakeries, medical clinics, a pharmacy, gelato, a photography studio and much more. I can rent a bicycle or pick up wine and groceries. It's such a walkable neighborhood, I love it, and I think you will too.
