This room is small, but large enough to accommodate one person comfortably. You can see the Captain Moran's house just to the left. I was told my house and the one across the street were built for his daughters around 1890. I have large windows (Lots of sunlight!) with beautiful antique mouldings framing those, and all the doorways.
The room is furnished with a single bed, nightstand with bedside lamp and chair. There is a good sized closet on the wall opposite the bed with a fold down desk.
My home is a 3 bedroom character flat on the 2nd floor of a home built in the late 1800's. You can even still see an outlet for gas lighting in my hallway. It is an old home so it will never be perfect, but it really has so much character. With the beautiful wooden mouldings around each door and window, and nice high ceilings with tall windows that let in a lot of light, it really is an interesting and beautiful place to stay.

There is a washer and dryer in the unfinished basement down two flights of stairs. The hallway that leads to it is still under renovation, so you would need me to access it for you for your safety and comfort. Don't hesitate to inquire about it, we can come to an arrangement if you need to use the machines.
I have a parking spot available at the back of my apartment for 5$ per night, 10$ for 2-3 days, 15$ for 4-6 days, 20$ for 7-9days and 25$ for 10-14 days.
I do occasionally rent it out, so to ensure availability try to book it in advance.
(prices and availability recently increased as my neighbour will let me rent out their spot too)
Street parking: signs for the two streets that border my house:
2hr parking 8am-8pm and
No parking on Thursday from 12:05am until 8am (for street cleaning).
So after 8pm and on weekends, as long as you can find an available spot, you will not get a ticket.
Be aware our parking enforcers are private contractors, so are very vigilant.

Upon arrival, I, or one of my friends (if I'm unavailable) will walk you through where everything you might need is, including in the surrounding neighbourhood, hand over the keys and answer any further questions you might have.
If self check in is necessary, the code will be provided for the keys that are in a lockbox attached to the front door, just above the door knob.
If I'm not working a show at the Scotiabank Centre or at Neptune Theatre, I'm usually here working on personal projects. I'm very into DIY and crafting. I have a degree in theatre with a concentration in Costume studies, so I'm also very interested in sewing and you will probably hear me on my sewing machine at least once. (I also don't mind taking on simple repairs if you have a need-Just talk to me and we can arrange something)
I enjoy conversation and am quite a foodie. I've also lived in Halifax for almost 15 years, so I'm always open to talk about what's good to see and eat in Halifax!

I have a large 90lb fluffy dog that "blows her coat" when the seasons change. I try to keep her well groomed around these times of year. However there is much hair coming off the dog as this time, so beware if you have allergies, or an aversion to seeing a puff of dog hair in a corner that I missed in my daily vaccuming war. The struggle is real.
- My dog is a rescue with serious dog aggression (no issues with people at all). She has been to specialized training, so it is important to her continued training that guests do not attempt to walk her or leave her in the fenced yard unattended.
- Currently the back staircase has no handrail, so guests cannot use that for exit or entrance.
- Guests must notify me if you want use of the washer and dryer, as the staircase to it is under construction
-Refrain from wearing shoes in the house in consideration for my downstairs neighbours and to keep it cleaner
-Do not leave front door unlocked
-I prefer to keep all communication through the Airbnb site. If you feel you need to call, please give advance notice (unless it is an emergency).
-At least 1 week prior to arrival date, please give me your estimated arrival time. At least one day before check out, I like to know your check out time. You must notify me if you need times outside of my pre-set check in and checkout hours.
I'm a friendly and extroverted person (ENFP if you know the myers brigg system) who likes to chat and loves new learning experiences. I am definitely a foodie. I have tried a lot of the restaurants in town and I love to cook. That's my go-to conversation starter.
I also have a love for all things fabric, arts and crafts.
I am a big DIY'er. In fact I spent the last 6 months doing cosmetic repairs and painting the whole apartment. I am currently finishing putting up shelves in the pantry, then I will go on to patch the walls in the back stairway. I love it. I plan on building my own bed frame.
I work in the world of theatre and occasionally film--I've been involved in almost all aspects of production and backstage work.
I won't be able to get you deals on seats, but I will be able to easily find out what's happening in all the local theatre spots during your stay.
