This rustic and comfy cabin is in a clearing in the woods where ravens and eagles are neighbors. A wall of windows look out over peaceful and private woods and skylights scan the treetops to an open sky. Behind the bamboo fence about 150 feet is the yard and main house. Across the road only a few minutes away is Shark Reef Sanctuary, a 45 acre county park with walking trails through old growth woods to the ocean and views of the Olympic Mountains and other islands.

El lugar

I first built the cabin in the summer of 1981, basing the design on what I could see of barn board and batten construction. The post and beam style has hand peeled poles, rafters and BIG windows and skylights . Many upgrades to ensure comfort have happened since then! Guests easily relax into vacation mode and find the cabin atmosphere soothing and nature right out the front door.

A pleasant dining area beside large picture windows is flanked on one side by bookcases and the loft access stair, and on the other side by a cozy woodstove and seating area. There is an oil heating system for coziness no matter what the weather as well as the wood stove (wood supplied) for additional heat and ambiance.

The kitchen has an under-counter refrigerator, and is fully supplied with table servings , pots and pans. There is a full size stove and oven, water purifier, and toaster oven and a coffee machine.

A bright loft area is accessible by ships ladder. Upstairs under the skylights is sleeping space for four in two queen sized beds and an extra mat for single sleeping. Towels, sheets and blankets are provided. The beds are separated by a wall, but there is minimal audio privacy in the loft area. The loft has great views of tree tops through large skylights over the beds. KIds often feel it is like being in a tree house–and everyone enjoys spotting ravens and eagles flying overhead in the sky.

You can look forward to a hot shower with a view. And there is a separate toilet room where you can shut the door and be totally private.

This cabin is a sanctuary from the business of daily life. There is no internet connection and cell phone connection depends on your provider. However, there is digital communication available throughout the village. Many games and a library of books are provided for your self-entertainment and, of course, you can walk out the door and be enveloped by nature-the most healthy, and sometimes most surprising, of all entertainment.

Two bikes are on site andavailable for guest use. Bikes and kayaks can be rented on the island.

Disponible para huéspedes

You will have the cabin all to yourselves. There is parking space right near by. A small picnic table is available outside . A solid bamboo fence separates the cabin from the Main House- about 200 feet away. There is almost no traffic noise= just owls at night and ravens, eagles and sea lions during the day. Shark Reef Sanctuary is an easy short 5 minute walk from the cabin.

Atención a los huéspedes

I will greet you early on to your arrival and go over the systems in the cabin as well as a review of what is available for dining, beaches, trails, and events happening on Lopez.

Otros aspectos destacables

There is a two night minimum stay.

The guest cabin is not suitable for children under 4 or those who are movement impaired because of upper floor sleeping. Four person maximum which can be stretched to five at times. Sorry, no pets.

If you come in the cold/cool weather you may want to bring slippers for inside the cabin. If you come in the warm weather, it is always nice and cool in the cabin with its' dutch door and shading trees.

There is a book in the cabin that will give you a lot of information about the island and what other guests have enjoyed. It also has specifics about about the cabin.

This was a lovely stay. The cabin was clean, peaceful and the setting in the woods was so beautiful. The loft with the skylights made you feel like you were sleeping in a tree house. Very relaxing stay.

Respuesta de Asha:
Mary, Thank you for your nice comments. I am sorry that I did not get to meet you as I was in the Olympic Mountains and was totally out of reach. I hoped that the info that was in the book would give you a lot of info. It probably was a good thing that you had trouble with the wood stove because there was a burn ban because of no rain here for a long, long time.

This is a quiet, rustic cabin in the woods. While the cabin is "rustic," it is imaginative and has lots of character. Please note: this cabin is in the trees with filtered sunlight. The beds are very comfortable and it was lovely looking through the skylights from my bed. It is totally quiet and I slept very well each night. Asha was most helpful with tips for hikes, beaches and places to eat on the island. After giving us information, she respected our privacy and left us alone to enjoy our "girl trip."

The address is 58 Wild Rose Lane. Airbnb did not provide it. Asha was great. She gave us information on the nearby hikes you could take and we went on all of them. We arrived on our electric bikes. Spent 3 wonderful days hiking and biking around the Island. Be sure to eat dinner at The "Haven" and have lunch at "Bucky's" and of course pastries at "Holly B's It's important to know about the main sleeping area is up a vertical ladder to the very cozy loft. You sleep directly under skylights which are about 30 inches over your head which is very cool. Made us feel like little kids all cozied up and so on. By he way we are both 80 years old and thank God in good shape. The cabin is well equipped and very funky. The shower is particularly interesting. You'll just have to experience it to get the whole feeling. By the way... bring coffee and tea. It is not provided.
