The Old Court House was built in 1490 and is one of the most striking and historic holiday cottages in the Cotswolds, providing a beautiful glimpse back in time. The house is located in the heart of Castle Combe, which is one of the prettiest villages in Britain, and is surrounded by fabulous countryside, perfect for exploring on foot or by bike. The beautiful Roman spa town of Bath is only 11 miles away, and many other towns and attractions are close by, including Tetbury, Chippenham and The National Arboretum at Westonbirt. London is easily accessible for a day trip by either car or train.

The Old Court House is located in a row of cottages in the heart of the peaceful village of Castle Combe. The front door opens directly into the living room and the ground floor contains the following rooms:
Living room: Three stones steps lead down from the front door into the living room. This characterful room has oak beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls and a large fireplace, above which is an original coat of arms for Henry VIII. There is a three-seater sofa, an armchair for two, and a window seat, as well as a cosy wood burning stove, a flatscreen TV and a DVD player;
Dining room: Another beautiful room, with a further abundance of historic character, which contains a stunning wooden dining table, large enough to seat up to twelve people. French doors lead out from the dining room into the courtyard garden;
Kitchen: A doorway from the dining room leads to the modern kitchen, which overlooks the courtyard garden. This well-presented space contains an electric oven, induction hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer, toaster, kettle, and a coffee machine.
Steep stairs lead up from the ground floor to the first floor, off which are the following rooms:
Bedroom 2: A beautiful, stylish room, with oak beams, which contains a king size bed;
Family Bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin.
Further steep stairs lead up to the second floor:
Bedroom 1: A majestic room with a high ceiling and beautiful exposed oak frame, which contains a super kingsize four-poster bed;
Bedroom 3: Further steps go up inside this quirky bedroom in the eaves of the cottage. There is a standard double bed in this room, and two short ladders go up into an alcove, which contains a further double bed, ideally suited for older children. This room has an ensuite bathroom, which contains a bath with a handheld shower attachment, toilet and wash basin.
The enclosed courtyard garden is surrounded by a Cotswold stone wall, beyond which is open countryside. There is a small table and seating for four in the garden.
Free street parking is available close to the house.

Instant booking restrictions
This property is instantly bookable, subject to the following restrictions:
Short breaks: We can only accept breaks less than a week long that start on a Friday or Monday;
Weeks: We can only accept week long bookings commencing on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Friday and Monday are the preferred options;
Special events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day;
Short notice bookings: For bookings commencing within 7 days of the booking date, we have to seek confirmation from the property owner that they can accept the booking, before it can be accepted.
In addition to Airbnb’s terms and conditions, any bookings made for this property are made on the basis that you agree to the Booking Conditions set out on the Character Cottages website. Please type “Character Cottages Booking Conditions” into your search engine to find and review these conditions.
A security deposit of £100 is payable, which is returned after the letting period, subject to an inspection of the property. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival. In the event that the owners, or their appointed housekeepers, have to spend additional time tidying up after your departure, then the cost of this extra time may be deducted from your security deposit.
The maximum occupancy of the property, including its grounds, is eight guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than eight guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by one additional infant.
Up to two medium sized dogs are accepted, at a cost of £20 per booking per dog.
For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs remain downstairs, stay off the furniture, sleep in a basket in the kitchen and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 3pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Bedroom 2 (first floor): King size bed
Bedroom 3 (second floor): Two double beds (one of the double beds is a bunk bed style bed accessed via a steep ladder)
Family bathroom (first floor): Bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin
Bedroom 3 ensuite: Bath with handheld shower attachment, toilet and wash basin
Heating, fuel and logs
The property has an electric central heating system. Electricity is included in the rental price.
An initial supply of logs is provided for the wood burning stove and further supplies can be purchased locally.
The property has free wireless internet access and a flatscreen TV with DVD player. A telephone is also provided, for local calls only.
Mobile phone reception is variable and can be poor, depending on the network provider.
Free on street parking is available close to the house. Guests can load and unload cars directly outside the property.
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen) and a high chair are available on request.
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old property with many character features, including two low doorways, internal steps, fairly steep stairs leading to the first and second floors, and some sloping ceilings, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency. The second double bed in bedroom 3 is also accessed up a ladder.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
No smoking is permitted throughout the property.
Hen and Stag Parties
Hen and Stag Parties are not permitted.
