MEXICO RETREAT on the sunny Pacific Coast in Mazatlan
Rent one week to a month starting Feb 5 through March 15 and after April 5.
The restored casa is located in the primo area of Historic El Centro Mazatlan or Old Town. El Centro is a working Mexican town and most of the architecture is over a hundred years old. There are old ruins, art galleries, tiendas with folk art, an art museum, a restored theater, and mercado within walking distance of the house. The intimate Plaza Machado (the reason we bought the house to begin with) hosts several amazing outdoor restaurants and free cultural events such as music and forklorico dancing.
The casa is 2.5 blocks from the Plaza and 6 blocks from the beach.
Enjoy warm sea breezes as you take morning walks down the longest malecon on the pacific coast. This historic Mazatlan casa is spacious and the uncluttered open plan allows an expansive serene feeling. You can walk everywhere as your needs are so close...the mercado, bank, beach, shops, plazas, music, out door restaurants, galleries, museums, and shops. The weather could not be better in the winter and spring months.
INFORMATION ON THE CASA:
Built in 1897 by a Spanish family, the main room in the casa is a large open space with 18 foot ceilings, arches, fountain, and huge solarium. The restoration was designed by Rod Garrett well known architect and designer, whose work appeared in recent articles and interviews in The New York Times, Art in America, and Art Forum.
There is a master bedroom, and another sleeping area off the main room. 2 full bathrooms with showers, great working kitchen with most appliances, and washer/dryer just off the kitchen. The water is filtered with UV ultra violet light. The casa has internet wi/fi throughout, air conditioning and tv for streaming movies.
I am a visual Artist residing in Oakland CA. and Mexico. I love traveling all over and love to eat all kinds of ethnic foods. Lately i have been taking some Mexican cooking classes in Mazatlan which has been really inspiring. Now that i know the work involved in making a mole from scratch, i appreciate it so much more. I enjoy walking and yoga as well as listening to latin music.
I look forward to hearing about you and having you as a guest.
