Browns Boutique BnB, a beautiful bed and breakfast in the heart of Whanganui… more than just a place to rest your head.

We offer gourmet breakfasts.

We are lucky to live in a special and beautiful place, and Browns Boutique BnB is about being able to share that place and create experiences for others.

El lugar

The Watercolour Room is washed by the morning light.

Step into the adjoining sunroom to enjoy your morning breakfast and relax, read or work here, looking out to the garden. If requested the sunroom can be set up with a king single bed for an extra guest at an additional cost of $50 per night including breakfast.

The Watercolour Room has its own beautiful ensuite, with tiles handcrafted by local artisan Moabell Design, a freestanding bath and overhead shower. Don’t be surprised if one of the highlights of your stay is a long soak in the bath! Jenny makes heavenly scented soaking salts just for this bath, at no extra charge.

Our rooms are filled with art made by our wonderful local artists and makers, plus ‘quirky finds’ from local charity and antique shops. Every detail has been crafted to make your stay unforgettable.

The River Room sits between the rising and the setting sun. This room has a wood burner for those chilly nights and a television for relaxed evenings sipping on a wine and watching movies. You may enjoy to pick out a book from the library and read up on 'things to do' in NZ or lose yourself in a good novel.
Either way, it's about unwinding.

Motor lodges of a decidedly two- and three-star variety are ubiquitous in Whanganui, the picturesque (and strangely depopulated) river city in the southwest of New Zealand’s North Island. Against this backdrop, Browns Boutique Bed and Breakfast is a delightful anomaly, offering genuinely warm hospitality and design-led comforts. Jenny and Peter have together conceived of every tasteful, high-end accouterment of their guest rooms – fresh flowers: check; vintage glassware: check; enormous, claw-footed bathtub with rainshower: naturally. The couple also have a knack for making their customers feel more like houseguests. We were attracted by photos of Jenny’s gourmet breakfasts when booking, and the reality exceeded expectations – ranging (at our choosing) from a full English to sweet and savory crepes to the most designer muesli we had ever eaten. Our coffee came with fresh, unpasteurized milk – this is dairy country; our eggs, courtesy of the Brown family’s own hens. Here, every detail – right down to the ornate, copper spoon provided with Jenny’s homemade chutney – is thought-out and classy. And so it pays not to simply turf up in Whanganui, as beautiful as the city and river are, but to book the best accommodation that city has to offer: Browns B&B.

Respuesta de Jenny:
Many thanks Madeleine. One of the pleasures of opening our home to guests, is that we get to spend time with some wonderful people from all corners of the world. Making friendships that will last for many years. The pleasure was ours; to make our place into your home away from home. Jenny and Peter.

My husband Peter and I love to travel and meet people from all corners of the world. We love the Whanganui region and want to share with you the hidden away places that we think make us New Zealanders. We love good food especially when its made with love and a good wine! We really enjoy making delicious breakfasts that will set you up for the day. With good food, there should be good music. Music is a big part of our lives. With good food and good music, there should be good art. Our home is colourful with original art pieces.
