Welcome to my home
Guest accommodation has a king size bed that can be changed to single beds as required, all with electric blankets. There is an ensuite, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities and under floor heating. Guests are welcome to share the fire in the lounge room, kitchen, deck and the garden.
Home is situated 5mins walk from Mt. Victoria Village and railway station. Blackheath is 6min drive and Katoomba 20min. Jenolan Caves is 56km to the west.
Great bushwalks and climbing.
I am a keen traveler and have always appreciated home stays because my host/s can tell me so much more about an area than I can read. To this end I'm willing to assist guests with a comprehensive amount of brochures and maps of the upper Blue Mountains and the historical area to the west.
Mt. Victoria was called the 'gateway to the west' because early settlers could look down from Mt York and see the fertile plains to the west. You can still walk these early pioneer roads.
Mt Victoria is the highest point in the Blue Mountains with the Grosse Valley on one side and the Megalong and Kanimbla Valleys on the other side. There are views of towering, sandstone cliffs from Horne Pt. ( a 20min walk from my place) or Sunset Rock, similar distance. Lovely to take wine and cheese and watch the sun go down.
The local walks are of all grades from easy (historical walk around the village, Horne Pt.) to more challenging (Mt. Victoria Falls, Blue Gum Forest) There is also excellent climbing for those who are equipped.
The village has a number of good restaurants and cafes - Petalera, Mt. Victoria Manor House, Piccolo cafe, V & A Guest House and our unique cinema The Mt. Vic Flicks, privately owned and showing all the latest movies (check the web-site) that also offers its unique hospitality. In winter a bowl of soup with bread, in summer, tea/coffee with a homemade biscuit or slice.
Other aspects of the mountains is the 'slow food' movement, wine and food festivals and the music ones. A great place to explore and relax.
Disponible para huéspedes
Your Air BnB accommodation has an ensuite and the bedroom is a generous size with a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
You are welcome to share the kitchen, lounge room, the deck with bbq and the garden.
The lounge room and front veranda face north making is a warm place in winter. Or when snowing it's lovely to have the fire and watch the snow blow past the large window.
You are welcome to watch movies on my TV or in your room as I have enough broad band.
Atención a los huéspedes
I'm very happy to interact with my guests, suggesting places that they might like to visit, picking them up and dropping them off at the railway station if they arrive by train.
Equally if my guests prefer privacy I will be available as needed.
Otros aspectos destacables
I have a white cat named Dizzy. He is a friendly, quiet fellow, but a bit shy of strangers, so you may, or may not see him. He will not visit you in your accommodation.
My home is situated in a quiet street away from the highway noise and there is plenty off street parking.
If you plan to bush walk please bring good walking shoes, warm clothing and rain gear as mountain weather can be changeable.
You are welcome to lounge room and fire after 10pm, but please keep the conversation low.
I regret that because I own a cat I do not wish to have dogs on the premises. I understand how difficult it is to travel with your 'friend', but my place is not suitable. Thank you
