ABOUT THE HOUSE:
This used to be the home to two families back in the 1800's. The house is believed to have been built in the (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)'s and has withstood two worldwars and numerous inhabitants. Growing more and more tired and neglected it was leaning on the edge of the Baltic, until one day, someone came along who loves old houses and who loves making broken beautiful again:)
The whole property is newly renovated to support all your modern facilities and comforts. For those interested and knowledgeable in interior work you will see a lot of gorgeous old-style craftmanship throughout the building.
THE INTERIOR:
The bathroom was renovated in 2016. Here you can enjoy a long bath in a bathtub by a beautiful natural stone mosaic wall whilst reading your book, listening to the birds in the forest only a few meters away, or perhaps listen to the rain as it slowly drizzles on the roof.
The two bedrooms are set up with comfortable double beds, soft sheets and unique colour choices. The original old wooden floors feel great to your feet in sleepy mornings when you sneak up to go to the kitchen.
In the Master bedroom there is an amazingly beautiful old window where you can count the stars from your bed or let the sunlight wake you up in the mornings.
You will love the opportunity to have an old wooden fireplace (as well as an electric stove and oven), in the newly renovated kitchen. Here you also find all other possible modernities and equipment that you need to feel like a master-chef!
The Dining room is light and the dining table comfortably seats 4-6 people. It has the ambience of a romantic Japanese cherry blossom garden and this is also where you can use the sofabed for those extra dear ones that you would like to share your holiday with.
At the end of the house you have a small bathroom with a WC and shower, as well as a washing machine and drier.
Finally, you have the delightful Corner-room: Enjoy 5.5 meters of space above your head where the inner ceiling has been removed, a view straight to the Baltic, comfortable sofas and an amazing, charismatic cast-iron fireplace that will soothe away all kinds of stress. Listen to the fire crackling on any day when you just want a little extra atmosphere or let its glorious heat spread in the room whilst you relax in the sofa with a glass of something nice and enjoy the sound of a silent summer-rain outside(URL HIDDEN) ***************************************************
This house is a perfect place for someone who likes the nature, but also to spend time in a soothing interior.
There is no TV, because the owner believes in people making their own stories. In the library you will, however, find books to read and games to play.

GARDEN AND SURROUNDINGS:
Outside the house your closest neighbour is the Nature. You have a large green lawn where you can play badminton, pull out your table and BBQ for some social times, put up a tent or why not go and lie in the hammock at the end of the garden by the birch-trees?
The lovely atmosphere of this house and its old history as a home to workers at the old castle nearby, is interesting for both the cultural souls as well as the purely esthetical ones.
Some days you might just want to relax around the house, some days maybe you will make the three minute walk down to the small, local marina. Enjoy a small area for swimming and suntanning as well as a jetty to practise perfection into your style of diving;) Chat to the locals that keep their boats here or maybe have a go at the kayak that will be available for you to rent when you rent the house! The stunning Swedish archipelago is just around the corner!
If you prefer to get on the bike you can bike for 30 minutes down to the small, sleepy coastal village Arkösund. Here you can play minigolf, enjoy a lovely meal at some of the restaurants, get on a tour on the ferry around the islands in the nearby archipelago or perhaps have a wine and a chat with a local.
For those enjoying golf you can also go by car to the castle of Mauritzberg.
Also the large zoo Kolmården is around 40 minutes drive away with lots of fun for the kids!

Atención a los huéspedes

I might not be available in person during your stay in Sjöstugan, but I am only a phonecall or an email away. Also, I have family living nearby that can assist if need be.

Otros aspectos destacables

The house is located in a valley, therefore the cellphone-reception is not good inside the house.
In Sweden we don't wear shoes inside...Please leave your shoes as you enter the house! The wooden floors really don't like stones and dirt!
There will be bikes to borrow, but you need a car both to get to your destination, but also to travel around.
What else... Oh yes: Im sure you will love it! Everybody does!

This cottage is a perfect getaway. Hire the canoe and head off on an adventure or take the bikes for an amble down the road, then come home, light the stove and read a great book for the evening. Holidays don't get better than that! Eva and her family made us feel so welcome and meeting them made our trip to Sweden so much nicer. There really is nothing like local info and we are very grateful to them for their time and attention. We would happily recommend this home and happily stay here again!

Very nice house. You will enjoy the nature. About 10 minutes to supermarket and restaurant by car. Make sure to use the rowing boat on the lake.

It was so awesome at Sjöstugan! We had such a great summer in Sweden. We were totally amazed from all the love in that old house which is very clean and looks freshly renovated. Especially the old woodfired oven is a dream. We even managed to bake Kanelbullar inside . Don't forget to take the rowing boat and explore the nearby islands. The garden is huge, you can play badminton, frisbee or relax in the hammock. Also Arkösund is very lovely and peaceful a worth a visit. Thanks for giving such a great accommodation with a very fine hand for inner architecture Eva was always very polite, friendly, inspiring, helpful and easy to contact. She has so many additional ideas there was actually not that time to try or explore everything Best Regards from Cuxhaven Imke, Jana, Lilli and Lars

The house and surroundings are as described: An absolutely lovely, very newly renovated house that is fully equiped. Eva suprised with very nice and homemade presents, so that we had a very warm welcome and felt very comfortable and at home from the very beginning. Her absolutely sympathetic, hospitable and helpful family is living close by, so that we could ask for help or advice at any time. Eva herself visited us once to make sure, that nothing is missing and we're happy. We explored the countryside by bike which was great. A little marina is a 3 min walk away to look at the sea that you partly can see from the house. And a 30 min walk (or by rowing boat) through bushes to a beautyful spot on flat stones with a phantastic view. The last one we didn't go because of our little baby, but it's highly recommended. To Söderköping it's less than an hour by car and worth a visit to sit in one of the cafes next to the Götakanal or go for a stroll through the old town. We had a really great stay at Eva's place.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay at Eva's place. The perfect weekend getting away from all the city stress just relaxing and recharging. The cottage is lovely situated on the country side, with all the amenities needed. One highlight during our stay was renting the available kayak for a pleasant tour around the beautiful archipelago, which is right outside the house. Didn’t wanna leave and would like to come back soon. Our warmest recommendations

Hi, I am a former traveller who has worked as a masseuse and travelled the world on boats. I love this cottage with all my heart and have had it renovated during the past 6 years. It used to be the family's summer-holiday house and holds a lot of fond memories. We didn't have a s…
