Originally, I re-designed the third floor for my family. It has direct access yet is integrated for safety and convenience. Excellent for business travelers: before Airbnb, I had three (from Germany, Spain, the US) each stayed over a year. The totally equipped over 700 sq. ft. space is great for couples, solo adventurers, writers or business travelers. Colonial Chimalistac, between Coyoacan and San Angel, is near the National University, and you can walk to restaurants and shopping centers.
As you climb up the winding staircase and walk in, the light, the surrounding trees, the terrace is what hits you first: it is mostly windows and wood - floors, beams, tables, windows all around. Second is the comfort and attention to detail: for sleeping, for eating, for working - writing, for watching movies or listening to music, or having friends in. Our colonial Chimalistac is a quiet "small town", surrounded by a bustling city. Our street was a river until 1968 when it went underground in tubes. An occasional eagle still flies down from the mountains, and when it rains the river still remembers its "bed" as it rushes by.
Disponible para huéspedes
You have your own floor. You have everything your need. It´s the best floor in the house. There is space for your car in the garage that you walk through to go upstairs. Every need for comfortable, pleasant living, had been considered. The kitchen is complete, the bathroom is warm with towels and bath mats. In front of the large, king-size bed is a desk in front of a window looking out on the garden below. The TV swirls so you can see it from your bed, or from the small couch and coffee table next to it. But, where you may choose to spend most of the day, if you stay home, eating, working, sunbathing, is on your private terrace.
Atención a los huéspedes
Depending on how long you stay and how much you know about Mexico City and Mexico, I will be happy to fill in the blanks when you arrive. Almost everything is on the Internet. The visitors we have had have stayed for long periods and been quite independent.

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION (SIGUE ESPAÑOL)
I worked in Mexico as an art book editor/designer for 25 years and know much about Mexican culture and have loved this country. My best languages are English and Spanish, but I also speak Latvian, some French and as a child spoke German. For the last 23 years I have been the Latvian Honorary Consul in Mexico and have a broad experience in hosting people. I like people – all people - and find that our life is made rich through diversity. The space I offer is the third floor of my house (some 200 sq. mts. with direct access) that was designed and furnished by me for family use. (Please check out the photographs.) It has been called “unique”, comfortable, completely equipped, with wonderful light and a large terrace with an extraordinary tree-top view. At the present I live alone with my housekeeper Isabel, who has been with me for over 30 years.
It is suggested that I name five things I cannot live without. Perhaps the only thing that comes to mind is my morning coffee. Otherwise, “adaptability” is a key word in my life. My travel destinations are mostly Europe and the United States. Presently, I read little because I am working on a novel. Movies are my passion since I was a child in New York; shows I go to rarely, but music I love – everything from Opera to Garth Brooks, when he was still singing; food, I prefer fish to meat, anything green, eat tortillas but no chiles, love deserts and keep to champagne and tequila. As a host – I will greet you and we will have a long conversation, get acquainted, and speak about your special interests in visiting Mexico City. There are four pages of suggestions, in English and Spanish, with phone numbers and descriptions of where we are, how to get around, and what there is to visit, should you require that. Otherwise, I will respect your privacy, but will be available through , email, telephone, although we are one floor away. Isabel is here to help 24 hours.
AirBnB asks about a “life motto”, “… Study, work, be kind, respectful and keep smiling.” Life is an “adventure” my father said, after one revolution and two world wars.
