Peter, Glenda, Mari and family were the most phenomenal hosts we could ever expect. First the rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and perfectly air conditioned (very important in Cuba in August!). Each room had a newly renovated modern bathroom and great shower. Breakfast, prepared by Mari was simple and delicious (bread, made to order eggs, coffee to taste and an array of fresh fruit and fruit juice). Mari prepared breakfast with "care and love" and for a very nominal fee. My most important comment is about Peter (and his warm and brilliant wife Glenda who was always there to supplement his efforts). From the moment we communicated over Airbnb, Peter served as our personal concierge before our arrival and once we were in Cuba. He went above and beyond our greatest expectations. We emailed back and forth to settle on a tour itinerary. Peter helped us hone the details. He arranged for tour guides, restaurant reservations and secured multiple taxi's everyday to make sure we got to where we were going. Each morning and evening we would review the plans for the day. He would help us make adjustments based on weather, geography and practicality. Because of his over-the-top-efforts, we were able to truly see a true representation of Havana in only 3 days. PETER IS AMAZING!!! The price to start with was very reasonable for 3 nights. We got 10x the value of what we paid, having Peter watch out for us as if we were his own family. He is a fountain of knowledge, bright and the best resource anyone could have traveling in Havana. Much better than staying in a hotel. If you are lucky enough to see that Casa La Gloria is available the days you are in town--- Grab it immediately!

Place was excellent and was not far away from the action of Malecón! Peter was a very friendly and gracious host who spoke excellent English and German and who very kindly arranged us an early morning ride to the airport. Our only regret was that we were only at La Gloria for our last night in Havana!

This airbnb supplies bedding, towels soap and toilet paper. There is a bathroom. small fridge, new air conditioning and a safe in each room. The beds are comfortable for the standards of Cuba only. There is a common sitting area and a balcony looking onto the street. Mari (housekeeper) keeps the rooms spotless. She will supply bottled water, coffee, juice, toast, fruit and eggs for a small fee. Mari is a warm person who will make your stay as pleasant as possible. It is very quiet from approximately 1030pm until 730pm. Added character to this home is a few caged birds and an elderly turtle. There are no other animals. Peter will help arrange tours, taxis and answer cultural questions. Our best meals were at a restaurant across the way called "El Cimarron". Live music, singing and dancing every night. If you love gelato try Amore just off the Malecon by the US embassy. Internet is available at the local park 2 blocks away. Take note of the interesting art work. Internet cards can be purchased at $3 CUC for 1 hour or $5 CUC for 2 hours. Children and adults can be found in the park from the early until late hours. I never felt unsafe in Havana!! I walked alone from the park. Always establish your taxi fee before excepting the ride. I would not trust a meter. Bring Euro only if possible. Change some at the airport for a taxi to Peters place $30 CUC. Better exchange rates can be found at the bank or a large hotel. You need CUC to buy anything. No credit cards, bank cards or foreign monies. CUC money only!! Yes, I missed my credit card. Bring enough toiletries and any sweets/candy you may like. There is no corner store selling junk food. You will need an umbrella and good walking shoes. Roads and sidewalks are in disrepair. Animal droppings also are here and there. I hope this helps. I feel we had an excellent and authentic Cuban experience.

There are not enough words to say how great our stay was at Casa La Gloria. Peter and is family are amazing. Even before we arrived to Cuba, the communication between Peter and I was fantastic. Having Peter as our host 100% made a difference. I took a girls trip with one of my friends and we didn't have too much time to make an itinerary for our trip before hand. We planned on "winging" it and just enjoying the adventure. Luckily for us, Peter was such an excellent resource for us when we arrived. He was full of suggestions on things we can do and even offered to arrange taxis for us when necessary (going out of his way to find English speaking taxi drivers at that!). As far as our accommodations went, everything looked exactly like the pictures! The home is in a very nice residential area. There's only a 2 block walk from a wifi park so very convenient for us at the end of the night when we wanted to check-in with people from home. The area was very safe, as we would walk home from the park typically around 1-2 am alone. There's also a really nice tapas restaurant near by. Our favorite food came from El Cimarron, less than a block away, where the food was good and the drinks were cheap. El Cimarron also had live music playing certain nights so extremely entertaining. This was a great neighborhood to stay in, which was only minutes from central/old havana. Depending on your negotiation skills, the taxi should not be any more than $10-$15 pesos. After a long day, it was nice to come back to take a warm shower in your own private modern bathroom and have air conditioning. It's obvious that Peter and Glenda took pride in their home, because modern amenities were placed such as a stocked mini fridge and safe in each room. I'd be remissed not to mention how wonderful Mari was. She came in early every morning to make breakfast for us for 5 cuc. Such a kind woman! We'd have breakfast every morning on the balcony/patio area and it was a perfect start to our day. I highly recommend Casa La Gloria and will be sending more friends and family visiting cuba their direction.

When I first booked this room, I thought it was a scam. Peter was way too kind, accommodating and responsive. I am happy to say that we were pleasantly surprised to realize Peter and his home where everything that was promised and more! Everything is as described and you will feel more than pleased by the attention and service from the lovely "Mari" who will serve you a home-cooked breakfast every morning. I highly recommend you enjoy the magic that is Habana, Cuba and do it while havng this space as your home base. Gracias, Casa La Gloria!!

Even before we arrived to Peter's place, our experience communicating with him (arranging taxis, making some advance plans for our visit, etc.) went so well, my friend said to me, "I'm worried because this seems too good to be true." - This turned out not to be the case at all. Peter was absolutely wonderful as a host! He is a natural at it, and seems to genuinely enjoy making sure his guests have the best experience in Cuba. Without his guidance, our trip surely would not have been the same. He really took his time each day to give advice on places to see, help with booking reservations, even telling us about some of the history of the sites and speaking about the culture. His family is lovely, we enjoyed meeting them, and we also loved the breakfast served by Mary each morning. We were super happy with the accommodations, I personally think the house is even nicer than it looks in the photos! I would not hesitate to recommend this place and would definitely visit again! Thanks for everything Peter!

Peter and his amazing family is the absolute perfect place to stay while visiting Cuba, specifically the Havana and surrounding areas. The home was welcoming, perfect accommodations, above what we expected for what we believed would be a potentially lower, unknown, expectations. Despite what we may have read and expected, their home was more than ample, air-conditioned, clean, extremely comfortable, well stocked, and the attention to detail and local tips and suggestions were not unnoticed. If you are going to Cuba, you will not be disappointed with the people, culture, food, and most notably, staying at Casa "La Gloria. Get the breakfast option!
