Jeth was a very good host. He was very patient and kind as we had some problems with the reservation, and interacts with guests always in a very friendly way. We liked him and the rest of the staff there! I didn't expect be so close to the front of East Railay (you go downstairs, as the place is elevated, and you are there). 10-15 mins to West R, and 15 to Phra Nga via a very scenic pathway (follow the sea front until the end and then go parallel to the "caves"). Krabi boats arrive and depart from East Railey Beach (floating deck), so it's very convenient, above all if you have to go to the airport (you can buy all inclusive ticket (boat+taxi) everywhere in Railay East for 400 baths. To go to Ao Nang you have to go to West Railay for the boat, though. Expecting a loud place (maybe for the price or I don't know why...), we found a very nice and green place with very cute wooden huts, all with very comfy hammocks and chairs in the porch. You can hear everything from the neighbouring huts, but we weren't awaken by anyone (except staff from the laundry living at the back of our hut. Quite annoying). Good bed. We asked for a mosquito net and in 5 mins the friendly maintenance man came with a brand new one and fixed it. Bathroom could benefit from some improvements, very basic. Food at the restaurant very good. Laid back and nice atmosphere. We loved very much the place! Don't go to Mom's Kitchen restaurant at the sea front unless you want to be poisoned as me! The most disgusting and dirty kitchen I've ever seen! Thanks to Jeth we can stay at Railay without spending a fortune, in a nice and friendly place.

Basic, but better than the theoretically not-basic hotel I stayed at in Railay after this, and a lot cheaper. Pros: - Location is secluded, quiet and leafy. - Perhaps because it's on a hill and sheltered by those trees, it's also cool enough that you won't miss the aircon -- a fan is enough to keep cool. - The reception area and neighbouring cafe are about as good as it gets on Railay for a place you can sit and get work done, or read a book or whatever, without being bothered. Coffee is almost half the price of elsewhere too. If you wanted to spend a long time on Railay and would be working while here, then this would be well worth considering. Cons - No safe (not surprising) or safe place to keep your valuables at reception (surprising -- a problem if you did plan to stay a long time and had things like a laptop with you, though the other guests seemed more grown-up than in other Thai resorts, so I can't say I was seriously worried about theft). - No rail to hang your clothes or towel, though there are shelves. - Cold shower. Some people are totally fine with these. I remembered I am not. - Toilet is basic: you flush with a bowl of water (fine, you're in SE Asia) and you have to put loo paper in a bin not the bowl (less comfortable with this, though I realise it's probably difficult to install something more advanced in this location). But, it still beat the hotel I stayed at immediately after, that was three times the price. All in all, well worth considering. If you want better you really will have to spend a lot more. Hopefully they install heated showers and a safe box somewhere at some point though.
