We designed the garden and bungalows from the ground up, and the unique island style construction was undertaken by Captain Brett. An organic building project from the start, all the beams, bamboo fencing, trim and basic wood construction were assembled from the property’s many towering palms. Nothing of nature’s value was wasted. The pleasant sense of ease one feels upon entering into Shibui Garden Bungalows is our way of wishing you a welcome and comfortable stay.

The Bamboo House Restaurant offers a creative array of local Indonesian and international dishes all with an authentic flavor. Guests can enjoy their meals in a cozy, warmly lighted and spacious setting. Chef Brett’s adventurous life sailing the seas, brings to the restaurant recipes he’s gathered from across the globe. Always attentive to the needs and appetites of his guests, vegetarian, Vegan and other specifically requested meals can be prepared. Group or celebratory meals as well are available by pre-arrangement. All vegetables, meats and fish are purchased daily from the colorful and well stocked Tanjun open market. A fine range of taste at especially affordable prices awaits you at the Bamboo House Restaurant.
All the food is hand selected from the best fresh produce and meat from the morning market. The hamburger meat is ground fresh in house from prime cuts of tenderloin beef and sirloin from local grass fed cattle . The hamburger buns are baked fresh in house. The sauce on the hamburgers is made with homemade Mayonnaise and secret ingredients. The tortillas for the Artisan Tacos are made in house fresh to order ,The Asian noodles are also made fresh in house as well as the Hand Cut Asian noodle. The soup broth for the Taiwanese Hsinchu Noodle soup is made with real chicken, no bouillon mix is ever added.. I have been told by my Taiwanese friend that our noodles were better than even in Taiwan! Soon all the salad vegetables will be harvested from our own organic garden on site (planted and growing now..). All things one would come to expect to find only in top quality restaurants. Why do we do this? Because we wouldn't put our name on anything less.

The Shibui Garden Bungalows is owned and operated by Kadek Eka Puspayanti and her American husband, Captain Brett Tagrin. We have two lovely daughters and a new-born son, Kaimu, approaching two years old. We designed the garden and bungalows from the ground up, and the unique island style construction was undertaken by Captain Brett. An organic building project from the start, all the beams, bamboo fencing, trim and basic wood construction were assembled from the property’s many towering palms. Nothing of nature’s value was wasted, even bark from the palms was used for door and window decoration or assembly. Recycled red brick made for artful walkways, and planks of teak wood, left over from the building of Captain Brett’s 20 meter trimaran, were cut and shaped to make the restaurant’s tables and chairs.
