The Stable is a beautiful old building that was once used as stabling for oxen & horses in the early 1900's. It has been renovated to offer comfort & space in a country setting. It is 145 square meter, 2 bedroom cottage with a shower/ toilet facility & comfortably sleeps up to 4 people. There is an open plan kitchen, dining & lounge area that opens up onto a private garden.
We now also have an optional extra facility of a jacuzzi for R150/day.
The Stable is at the edge of Porterville but within walking distance of many things to do. Golf, Squash, Museum (very small but cute), shops, ATMs, 3 places to eat out, Flyers Lodge for paragliders, the tourism office are all within 2-5 minutes walk.
By car there are more attractions within 10-40 minutes drive including 22 Waterfalls, Indie Ale Brewery, Protea farms, Olive Farms, Micro Herb gardeners and more.
If you prefer the peace and quiet, then simply staying in and enjoying the beautiful stars and quiet nights.

Arrivals and Departures
Check in is after 2pm and Check out before 10am. Arriving slightly earlier, or want that extra hour to sleep? Should be fine, but please check with us first. We don’t have a front door/gate bell so phone us when you arrive.
Oh… and don’t forget our key when you leave! ☺
Please contact us about any pets before booking, as much as we love them, we generally do not allow pets over 10kg. Still, if you think we won’t be able to say no… give us a call.
We do not cater specifically for children, but they are welcome. Kids 0-2 can stay for free, and 3-9 are R100.
There are a number of steps here at The Stable, so those with disabilities may not find the building ‘user friendly’. Sorry that we aren’t able to provide wheelchair access because of the nature of our old building.
Bookings & Cancellations
A non-refundable deposit of one night will be taken to secure any booking payable by bank transfer, or cash. Everybody changes their mind from time to time, or has an unforeseen event alter their plans. We understand that, but ask that you let us know as soon as possible so that we can have the opportunity of filling the gap made by you cancelling or changing your dates. A week’s notice seems fair and we will return any booking fee, just keep us informed.
It is 2017 (and beyond) so we all know that The Stable, like everywhere else, is non-smoking. You can light up in the private garden if you really have to just don’t throw your butts in the flower beds/ pots.
We understand that accidents happen. But we do ask that you please let us know when they do. Chances are we can fix them as effortlessly as possible which also means better chances of not having to ask you pay us an amount reasonably required to make good or to rectify such damage or loss caused by you.
We know this will never happen, and if you found us, you are most likely not the kind of person that this applies to, BUT we reserve the right to end a reservation if a guest becomes a massive disturbance/nuisance to us, or our neighbors.
To keep our costs down (and pass those savings on to our guests) we kindly ask that you switch off lights, close taps and turn off the A/C or heating when its not in use or leaving the house. Mother nature thanks you too.
Thank you for reading to the end and not giving up. We look forward to greeting you at our gate (with 3 very excited Dachshunds) soon. ☺
