My girlfriend and I were in need of a place to stay one night for a half marathon in Liverpool. We chose Sean's place because (a) he has multiple properties and is highly reviewed; (b) the apartment is centrally located and walkable to everywhere, and (c) the price was excellent. Also, Sean offered us a late checkout if he didn't have any reservations for the following day. Unfortunately, he did, but it was nice that he offered.
Sean is very responsive and you will usually hear back from him quickly. We had some miscommunications via email, to the point that I was probably getting annoying, but he was patient and kind and helpful.
Upon arrival, I was supposed to meet his partner, Dimitri, and was told I was on Dimitri's calendar for a certain time. Unfortunately, Dimitri was not there and when I called, he didn't realize he was supposed to be there. So there was a hiccup at checkin, but Dimitri showed up within 5-10 minutes and no harm was done.
The apartment is huge. I was expecting a hole-in-the-wall given European hotels and apartments, but it was very big. Queen size bed was comfortable, plus there were 2 couches, the TV and a kitchen available for our use. Bathroom was a good size, too, with maybe the best shower I have ever used at an airbnb. It's a great place.
That said, we ended up in England during a heat wave, and Sean's place did not have A/C, and if it did, we couldn't find how to use it and frankly felt stupid calling Dimitri again and asking. Therefore, either Sean's place has A/C and we're very dumb, or it didn't and the room was uncomfortable. The apartment is one floor off the street, too, and it gets loud, even with earplugs. The combination of the noise and heat made sleeping difficult and a fan would have been nice. I don't criticize Sean for that though - how often does Liverpool get a heat wave? Still, it was a bit uncomfortable a noisy and that detracted a bit from our stay.
Overall though, we really liked Sean's place and would absolutely stay with him again if he would allow it at this or one of his other properties.
