Overall this was a great rental. The location was great, just 5 minutes from the beach and Dizengoff area. The apartment is spacious, modern, and bright, with very comfortable beds and furniture. Elie was courteous and fast to respond to our questions and concerns. The neighborhood is vibrant and lively, but may be a little sketchier compared to the area to the north or east.
But there is a lot that still needs work, or was flimsy, unclean or broken. And that made me think that this rental was not a good value. If much of these were fixed I wouldn't hesitate to give it 5 stars. But as things stand, I honestly couldn't.
We saw a roach in our first night of the rental. To be fair, it was the only one we saw that stay, and they are common in the neighborhood (we saw some on the streets). But still...
The shower had both a broken shower head and a torn seal on the door bottom, so a lot of water leaked all over the shower floor. Elie did try scheduling a repair but we were already out for the day, and then it was Shabbat for the next two days, and then we checked out Sunday. So no repair while we were staying there.
No dryer, just a clothes rack. Again to be fair, this seems common for area rentals. But if you require a dryer for your stay, you should be aware of that.
While most linens and towels were perfectly clean and comfortable, a few were rough or a little mildewy smelling. I think those were used by past guests to mop up the leaking shower floors, so we used them for that too.
A previous guest must have put away fish dishes without fully cleaning them, so the whole cabinet really reeked of fish. We tried finding the source to clean it but could not. Hopefully the cleaning crew caught that before the next guests arrived.
And there are some quirky appliances. The washing machine sometimes locked our clothes inside after a cycle and needed a "reboot" by unplugging and replugging before it worked again. The electric tea kettle leaked if you left water in it for more than a few minutes. There is no cable or antenna for the TV, just apple TV, which is fine if you are familiar with it (and if your TV services don't have region restrictions).
Other notes to future guests: the kitchen equipment is good but the supplies are pretty bare bones. No flour, sugar or condiments, and no spices other than salt and paprika. The Nespresso machine only had 2 capsules. So if you plan on doing any cooking be prepared to bring or buy what you'll need. (Again, this could be standard practice for the area, but it is not what we've experienced in rentals in the States.)
