This home has a beautiful architecture, is very well located between the Vedado and Old Habava. You can find wifi within few blocks at a public square and it is very close to Callejon de Hamel - a must see place in Havana on the Sunday's afternoons. It is also within few blocks from breathtaking sunsets on the malecon. However, you can probably find all these in many other neighbor houses. What really made this place my favorite was its host Caridad, Marisol's mom. She treated me like family within few hours from my arrival. I liked it here so much I'd return every day for breakfast or just to visit abuela Caridad even when I was staying on a different Airbnb. On my first night in Havana she dressed up and took me to a show in the Malecon so I wouldn't go alone. We spent hours talking while she cooked me delicious breakfast and dinner. Her cortadito - coffee - was the best I had in Cuba. Her nephew, Alvaro, speaks English and was a lovely company to our days in Havana. He took me to check FAC on my first weekend in Havana and spent a day showing me and my friend around the city. I'd return to Havana just to visit this family. Thank you so much for your amazing hospitality!

I had an amazing trip to Cuba and I owe most of it to Caridad and Alvaro for making me feel so welcome. Alvaro speaks English and Spanish and will gladly answer all the questions you have. Caridad’s delicious breakfast gave me the energy I needed to tour the city. The location of the rental is perfect, you are within walking distance to the Malecon, Hotel Nacional, and Havana Vieja-but if walking is not your thing you can easily catch a taxi. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Cuba!

thank you Calida for being a great host, your casa felt like our second home. I recommend having a typical Cuban dinner (rice beans & chicken) as it is delicious! Alvaro showed us around town and gave us great tips - also for those looking to visit other towns Alvaro can help you book casas in Vinales, Trinidad etc.

Marisol's place is very conveniently located. It's a couple of blocks away from both Malecón and the University of Havana. It's also a few minute walk from Callejon de Hammel, a unique artist street with art studios and where they play Rumba and Santaria on Sundays. The Napoleon Museum is also a short walking distance away and it's about a 10 minute walk from Hotel Libre, the ice cream parlor, Coppelia, and Hotel Nacional as well as all the popular restaurants in Habana. There is Biky, a pretty good and reasonably priced bakery, restaurant, and bar 2 blocks away and a grocery store where you can get bottled water and other basic things. It takes longer, but it's also walkable to Parque Central and Habana Vieja. The area is very residential which gives a great view of daily life, people hanging outside on their curbs and talking through their windows. We stayed in the smallest of the 3 guest bedrooms at the house. The house is old and basic, but updated, well kept and clean. It has a very high ceiling throughout. We only brought a backpack each, and coming from a city, we were used to smaller spaces, so the small room was perfectly fine for us. If you have a suitcase or need more space, or a bigger bed, I'd recommend booking one of the other 2 rooms they have. Each room is recently renovated and has a clean private bathroom. Even though our room was small, the high ceiling made it feel airy. It was really nice to have a new AC and a fan in the bedroom as Habana can get hot and humid even at night. Also, the common space is very comfortable as there is a living room and some other seating areas. The best thing about the place is the host. Marisol's mother lives there, and she made our experience in Cuba a very memorable one. She does not speak English, and we speak elementary Spanish, but we had a wonderful time together. We immersed ourselves in Spanish staying at her home for a week. Our favorite thing to do was to talk with her at breakfast and chat with her and neighbors as we relaxed in the living room and watched baseball games together some evenings. Marisol's cousin lives nearby and speaks very good English. He can stop by if you need some assistance in English. We would definitely stay at Marisol's place again next time we visit Habana.
