Wonderful food and wine: Just drive through our region, and the Peninsula's love affair with wine, fresh produce, seafood and bountiful food on the table is quickly revealed. Taste it, sip it, pick it, catch it, take it home with you. But first, find out more about the Wine Food Farmgate Trail. X.

Art galleries, museums, history and culture:

Everything from art galleries and antiques to Victoria's earliest settlement and maritime defence fortifications. Explore historic homesteads, buy works of art in our galleries. Visit galleries set in artful gardens, visit gardens filled with contemporary art.

Golf courses and golf club resorts:

The Mornington Peninsula is renowned for some of the word's best natural golfing terrain. Come and experience it on our 20 golf courses with magnificent views of the coast and countryside. Hot springs, day spas and spa retreats: Discover Victoria's only geothermal hot springs with pools cascading down the valley. Indulge yourself in a massage at any number of day spas across the region. You can learn yoga in the fresh air on the beach, or book a personal trainer and get started on a new fitness regime. Markets and shopping: Weekend and mid-week markets are great places to connect with local food producers, artists and crafts people. Farm shops and artisan retailers give you a real taste of the range of food and wine. Shopping centres are small and friendly, antique outlets overflowing with special finds.

It’s art in action on the Mornington Peninsula

Drop in on glass blowers as they create brilliant glass art, call into artists’ studios or buy at fabulous art galleries. There’s art in the great outdoors too, so why not picnic in a sculpture park or amid the spectacular coastal scenery of an art trail.

Does history intrigue you?

Then tour tiny museums and visit spots such as Cape Schanck’s 1850s lighthouse or Point Nepean’s historic military installations. There’s lots of contemporary culture too, so just check online and book a concert, play or festival event.

Food and wine just doesn’t get any better than this.

Whether you’ve got a day or a week, the Mornington Peninsula is total temptation. You’ll find market gardens, farmgates, farmers markets, artisan food producers, winery restaurants and casual cafes.

The Mornington Peninsula vineyards are famous – but there are new and exciting tastes to enjoy at craft breweries, cider makers and distilleries. Fill your picnic basket at a farmgate or share a regional platter at a winery restaurant. Take high tea, book a cooking class or savour a fine dining experience in a Chef’s Hat restaurant – it’s all here.

Diving, fishing, swimming with dolphins.

Come on, dive in the deep end Try something you’ve never done before, like learning to scuba dive or swimming with dolphins. We know we shouldn’t boast, but you’ll find an amazing underwater world that really does rival Australia’s northern coast for its incredible colour and marine life.

The night life is pretty spectacular too…grab an underwater torch and snorkel along the Octopuses’ Garden Trail at Rye pier and meet curious little sea dragons. You can also go surfing, sailing or stand up paddle boarding, or just cast a lazy fishing line from a pier or book a fishing charter.

Hinterland gardens and outdoor attractions.

Maybe it’s time to drag yourself away from those beautiful beaches and explore the rest of the Mornington Peninsula. Up in the green hinterland are lots of adventurous attractions, including horseback rides between wineries or along bush tracks to ocean beaches.

Looking for things to do? Huge maze gardens have activities for everyone…go tree surfing or tube sliding, wander through beautiful landscapes or stroll along boardwalks through wetlands. The nightlife gets pretty intriguing too, with moonlit tours to see endangered wildlife and ghost tours for the more daring.

Golf courses and golf club resorts.

Want some bragging rights at your local golf club? Then come to Australia’s 1 golf destination. Here’s the ‘need to know’ info: 15 clubs and 20 outstanding courses. 3 courses are in Australia’s top 10, plus another 6 in the top 100. And there’s a fantastic variety of play for novices and experts, with links, parkland and resort courses.

You can play at any time too - the golf is truly year round, with a mild climate, fast-draining sandy soils and sand dunes creating some tricky challenges. And the bonuses? Spectacular coastal views, excellent on-course accommodation and great packages.

Shopping can soothe the mind, calm the soul.

It can fill the picnic basket and the pantry. It can reveal that perfect gift, that painting you’ve been searching for, that sculpture for your garden. So why wouldn’t you roam around the many villages here?

Weekend and mid-week markets.

They are great places to connect with local food producers, artists and crafts people. Farm shops and artisan retailers give you a real taste of the range of food and wine. Shopping centres are small and friendly, antique outlets overflowing with special finds. So really, there’s simply no excuse not to shop. Everything from antique stores to finding treasures in our markets across the Mornington Peninsula. Discover farm shops or visit more than 30 villages with superb art galleries, boutique shopping and tempting gourmet food stores.

Hot springs, day spas and spa retreats.

So you’ve been promising yourself for weeks that you’ll take some ‘me time’ and relax? You’ll find life instantly slows down as you float in naturally hot mineral springs, gazing up at shady trees or the starlit sky.

But that’s just the start. Masseurs at day spas and luxury spa retreats quickly turn tension into bliss. You can learn yoga in the fresh air on the beach, or book a personal trainer and get started on a new fitness regime. Or just leave the phone behind and take a long, peaceful walk along the cliffs followed by a hot coffee or cool wine. Breathe deeply. Let the fresh sea air cleanse mind, body and soul. Or take a walk in the peaceful hinterland, where the aromas of eucalyptus and the countryside will bring you gently down to earth. We all need time to de-stress, reconnect with ourselves and others, and just reflect on life. The Mornington Peninsula is the perfect place to do that, and to create your personal ‘six degrees of relaxation’.

Mornington Peninsula tours, winery tours,

Isn’t life so much easier when you let someone else do the driving? Especially when you want to sip and sample your way around some of the 50 cellar doors on the Mornington Peninsula. Just book a personalised wine tour, hop on and off a shuttle, or even go on horseback.

You can pop across to Queenscliff on the Sorrento ferry, organise a golf tour, book a Rolls Royce for the ultimate romantic tour or arrange a restaurant transfer for dinner. Still prefer to drive yourself? Rental cars are at the ready

So you've cancelled the newspapers, held the mail and organised your accommodation. Maybe it's time you let us do the rest Explore the region with an experienced guide or tour operators. They can shuttle you from restaurant to vineyard, drive you from one golf course to the next, or help you pick the activities you love and create an itinerary that suits your interest.

Whatever the occasion, the Mornington Peninsula offers touring options to suit; small group touring, chauffeured service, wedding transfers and more. Travel by car, bus, limousine or ferry. Join a group tour, create your own private tour or simply get from A to B with peninsula wide pickup.

Sandcastles, carnivals and other events.

We love a great event In summer, Frankston’s famous sand sculptures and sandcastles create a giant fantasy land. In winter, go on a truffle hunt in the hinterland and taste this black gold.

There are traditional summer carnivals for kids at Rosebud and Rye, opera and high tea for grownups and weekly markets for everyone. If you’re into food and wine, be warned: your cup and plate will runneth over with wine and food dinners, cooking classes, foraging and gourmet events.

With so much to do and see we hope you have a great holiday and hope to see you again.

Jim and Heather's Rye retreat is simply amazing. It made the perfect locale for a weekend getaway for us and a few friends. The house is immaculate with all of the amenities, and the outdoor areas are perfect for entertaining. Heather checked in with us regularly via email to make sure we were settled and to see if she could help. We highly recommend staying here!
