My daughter and I stayed on Yvette's boat for two nights in Jacksonville. It was such a great deal, that we couldn't pass it up. My daughter and I explored downtown Jacksonville and the Silver Glen Springs in the Ocala Forest.
The boat is about 45 minutes to downtown Jacksonville and about two hours from the springs. The boat itself features a cozy cabin, a small bathroom (toilet only) and a living/kitchenette area that fits two people. The boat is shared with Yvette and another young gentlemen. I snore, so Yvette helped us set up an additional bed for my daughter, in the living area. They were great hosts!
We enjoyed living "the boat life" for a few days, it is a life style that is very much like camping or DIY. We would say the "boat life" is not for everyone, the people who are the most easy going and down-to-earth will appreciate this air bnb more.
We used a cooler to keep our food chilled. The bathroom on board can only handle liquid, therefore we used the marina bathrooms mainly for restrooms and showers. The boat only has one main cabin bed, and can make maybe one or two more make-shift beds if possible. The listing lists more beds, but its really only one main private bed in the cabin. Only the essentials are provided, such as hand soap and towels. We forgot our own shampoo/conditioner. It should be noted that both hosts smoke frequently. For us, that wasn't a problem, but the smell does linger.
We also had to figure out a lot of things ourselves, such as directions to the marina/how to get into the marina after hours/how to use the boat cabin in general. A better description of the area would be super helpful! We also found ourselves trying to figure out how to use the boats features, such as the lights or stove, a better description or initial walk through of the cabin would have been helpful as well.
Nonetheless, thank you for such a great boating get-away. It was great to experience a new way of life and explore Florida!
