Our place is 10 minutes from Ithaca College and 15 minutes from downtown Ithaca, on a 120 acre ecovillage. You’ll love our place because it's a complete, cozy one bedroom apartment with a fold out couch for kids. There is a playground, trampoline and trails. If you like being in the country, but are a bit of a city person at heart, we are a perfect blend.

El lugar

It's a cozy, self contained apartment. While you could fit four, it is ideal for a family with kids. Four adults might find it a little tight, but could make it work. Three would likely be comfortable.

And you are welcome to share our porch with a great view! The property is lovely. Warm friendly people and kids wander about.

There are a lot of good vibes here. And trails, a sandbox and playground. Great for families!

Disponible para huéspedes

You'll have the entire guest suite, which includes the bedroom, the kitchen/living room, and your own private full bath. You will enter through a side door.

The entrance is semi-private as it leads to the basement which also has our pantry/laundry room, and a home office, where Mark works during the week.

The suite is completely private with a door that you can lock.

In a pinch, or especially if you are staying for more than a few nights, you're welcome to do laundry.

Atención a los huéspedes

We do love to meet people, and are happy to help orient you to the area, and the land.

Otros aspectos destacables

We are an active family, with twin eight year old boys. You will have as much privacy as you like, and our home is not a place for a silent, contemplative retreat. :)

Holly and Mark were wonderful hosts. The apartment was clean and comfortable. My daughter and I were going to an open house at Ithaca College which was just a few minutes away. I wish that we had time to walk on the trails during our stay.

The space is just as pictured and described. It's in a nice location outside of the hub bub of downtown but not too far away. As noted by the owner, just be aware that if you are looking for a serene quite getaway, this may not be the place for you as sound from upstairs does travel throughout the house. Holly was friendly and easy to communicate with and made sure we were comfortable with her large sweet dogs! Great value!

Holly's place was exactly as described. Her communication was great throughout! They are also very centrally located but somewhat remote outside of Ithaca. It's about a 10-15 minute drive to get downtown and about 15-35 minutes to Buttermilk Falls, Robert H. Treman State Park, and Taughannock Falls if you're interested in some beautiful gorge hikes! They also have such a lovely view from walking down the road from their place to the parking lot. However, a few things to note: The futon mattress in the bedroom is a bit uncomfortable in that the edges bow upward slightly making it a bit awkward to sleep on so we just placed it on the floor and it was much more comfortable. Also, the parking lot is near the entrance to the community they live in (White Hawk - really interesting!) so if you are arriving late, make sure you ask Holly if you can park in front of their house that night. If you do not have a light to guide you to their home from the parking lot, it can be difficult to navigate as they do not have lighting along the path to conserve energy/promote efficiency and so you can see the stars! Finally, if you are looking for a very quiet getaway, this may not be the best option as you can hear the boys playing upstairs and it can get quite loud for short periods of time. If you are planning to be gone most of the day, it shouldn't be an issue! Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and Holly and her pup were warm, courteous, welcoming, and inviting.

Wow, I'm very surprised by this. First, the bed thing I take VERY seeiously, I'm just shocked that none of our other dozens of guests and many friends have ever mentioned it. But I'm 100% on that and if it needs fixing it will be done right away. (Just FYI it's not some shabby futon but an organic, foam core, super wrapped, deluxe model ;)). As for the parking thing, I honestly kind of want to pull my hair out, as I spoke warmly with Hazel and her friend at least twice, maybe three times, specifically about the parking and I'm SURE I invited them each time to park by the house if they were at all uncomfortable, as I tell everyone. Yet, if you don't mind the short, and quiet lovely walk, a flashlight is a good idea, and I'll happily lend one if you forget :). The stars are often spectacular, and only could be because we all turn off our lights! As for the kid noise, it's true. We are a very kid positive place. The village is teaming with very lively little ones and it's not uncommon for them to be bursting through our home. Most of our guests are families or folks who hear kid noise as joyful noise. I always kindly discourage folks who'd like a quiet getaway. And our listing clearly states, "We are an active family, with twin eight year old boys. You will have as much privacy as you like, and our home is not a place for a silent, contemplative retreat. :)" Yet, we do ask the boys to be quiet before nine am and are most often in bed by nine pm. So nights and mornings are quiet here. And we have a lovely porch with a great view that we happily share for evening and morning relaxing. I encourage everyone to read our other reviews, and if we sound like a good place for you, please trust we will be. We've been having a blast doing this and have met lots of great people and families. Folks kids have had big fun with our kids, teens have hung for hours with the really sturdy, good hearted teens here. We consider this a slice of paradise and look forward to hosting many other warm hearted folk looking for the kind of comfort we so easily provide in the days and years ahead. If this sounds good to you, please come join us!

We had to cancel same day due to a family medical situation. Holly was very responsive and empathetic and allowed us to cancel without a fee. I can only imagine she'd be a fabulous host had we made it.
