Walk the secret vineyard walk - I'll show you how to access not one but many vineyards! Best you take a torch you could be out there for awhile. Dine and wine your way across the valley to Obsidian, Casita Miro, Te Motu, Tantalus, Wild on Waiheke and Stoney Ridge. Make sure you book snacks and lunch not just wine tasting. Before you go or after you come back then stroll just five or so minutes to the pristine sands of our favourite Onetangi Beach.
This place is an easy space to relax in with a north deck to sit around and have your morning cuppa while the sun shines through. The apartment is basically the whole upstairs of the house which is one double bedroom with main bathroom and kitchen/living area. Lots of trees out the back to read a book later in the afternoon after your exploration. It is a little wild and rugged with bird life galore. Watch the Tui birds come and sing to you in the morning or last thing at night. It is so quiet apart from the occasional festivities to be heard in the valley people celebrating life it's just lovely. There is a bit of history here too on the property with the blacksmiths cottage at the front; circa 1892 also available to let. Look at The Blacksmith's cottage on airbnb. People love to stop and take photos of this. There is also parking for a car at the property by prior arrangement. if you have special requests let us know. The property backs onto Casita Miro vineyard and vineyard country which you can walk to 5 vineyards easily. Beach is literally a few minutes walk and that is unbiased to say; the best beach Onetangi! Set on over half an acre and a work in progress we hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

Please respect the place and treat it like it is your own. Water is such a precious resource on the island that you do have to think every time you turn a tap on. Five minute showers only and when you are turning the tap on to wash teeth or rinse things just stop and think I could turn that down or off while I do that as we do suffer droughts and our only water is from the gods! We also only have septic tanks for waste water on the island so ladies nothing down the toilet please.
These are just a couple of things about Waiheke you need to know and it is part of our life. Our supermarket is the one of the first to not have plastic bags so I have bags if you want to go shopping. No smoking inside, or any dead cigarettes inside, no drugs and just make yourself at home. This is not a party house it is for those who wish to be at one with nature and appreciate the vineyards, good wine, walking, beaches etc
I have been living on Waiheke for over ten years and have also worked on island for many years. I love nature, walking, yoga, meeting up with great friends and also enjoy travelling and meeting people that come to stay. I am a creative person and love to write and love to learn. I am from Auckland originally and my family and I used to come to Waiheke from when I was five years old to stay in our holiday home. The island was very different back then but it is still loved and a really lovely, safe and community minded place so definitely put Waiheke Island; fourth official (according to lonely planet people's choice) best island in the world! Our place is a relaxed atmosphere.
