Rose & Crown House was built in the early 17th century as a merchant's house and for most of the 19th century and early 20th century used as an inn. The building is Grade II listed and mentioned in Pevsner's the Buildings of England. It has a wonderful period feel with area's of panelling and exposed wooden beams throughout.
Chipping Campden is arguably the most attractive of the larger Cotswold's wool villages and the High Street where Rose and Crown House is located was described by the historian Sir George Trevellyan as "the most beautiful village street now left on this island". The village has an abundance of shops, restaurants and pubs and is a good centre for visiting the Cotswold beauty spots & gardens along with nearby historic Stratford-upon-Avon.
The town is situated in a conservation area, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so in turn has a wealth of beautiful buildings and a plethora of architectural styles.
