I will start by saying I would give 2.5 stars if that was an option and, am willing to revisit my review if the host makes the minor changes suggested below. This was a last minute rental as, the place we had reserved months in advance fell through a week before due to issues beyond their control. We were hesitant to stay since there were no reviews even though the owner has been on Airbnb since 2015 but, decided to take the chance. We stayed here for three weeks upon arrival in Medellin for a work transfer. Despite the issues mentioned below, we decided to stay because, we both started working upon arrival (7am-7pm) and, our arrival coincided somehow with the flower festival which meant, accommodations that met our basic requirements, were scarce. For the sake of transparency in this review, our checkout process was “complicated” with the host trying to get money from me for “completely destroying her place”. My husband jokes that maybe she didn’t like the chemical-free disinfectant we used to scrub down her place!...still ongoing! Good thing, is this is our first not so positive experience on Airbnb; we have always had great experiences with hosts all over the world-treating their homes like they are ours. And despite this ongoing issue, my intent is still to give a fair review. I will start with the pros 1. Communication with the host before arrival was fluid; not so much via the Airbnb site but more so through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) 2. Nice pool: our 11 year old really, really enjoyed it especially when other kids came down 3. Very close to a huge mall, grocery store and other amenities 4. Nice, new blinds that were just installed the same day we arrived to take full advantage of nice breezes while blocking out hot sun. But unfortunately, not properly installed so, all fell down as soon as we opened the windows/doors. We did notify host who said she would take care of it when we checked out (that was fine with us). Now, the cons 1. First and foremost is, per condominium rules, the host cannot rent her apartment as a vacation rental or for less than 30 days. This became clear to us 10 days into our stay when, we saw huge signs about this posted throughout the building and the elevators with the penalty of breaking the rules being, guests and the host being reported to the police. The city is really trying to crackdown on sex tourism so, one way apartment buildings and hotels do this, is to keep tighter control over who uses their premises. The host was very vague and absent in her responses to this issue so, since we didn’t really want to move to a small hotel room with our 15 suitcases, we kept a low profile when curious neighbors and the Guards at the entrance asked us questions about our visit. 2. Although the listing states there is a clothes...
