My cozy cabin is in the heart of the land of the lakes. It's a 2 minute walk to the Palmerston conservation area that offers hiking and great views of the area. It's a 10 minute walk to the public beach, the water is shallow and the bottom sandy, easy to walk out at your own pace and safe for children. The lake can be viewed by simply looking out the window in the cabin. The cabin is stalked with games and toys for all ages. You won't need to bring much for your little ones as its already here.

El lugar

The space is warm and inviting for everyone. There's a lovely large kitchen that is filled with everything you would need to cook and serve with. There is a wood stove to relax by when it's cold outside. I have an extensive array of old school VHS movies and DVD's for all ages. You will find a closet filled with colouring materials, games, puzzles etc.

It feels so good to put the feet up, grab a book and enjoy the views of the lake and the peacefulness that the cabin offers.

Disponible para huéspedes

The entire cabin is yours as well as the surrounding property. There is a garage but you will not have access to it.

There is a large bbq and the propane runs through the house so you won't have to worry about bringing any or running out. I have added an extra $25 to cleaning fee for a propane charge as it can get costly for me.

I have a large U shaped laneway that offers lots of space to store ATV or snowmobile trailers if you're bring them. There are heaps of trails!

Atención a los huéspedes

I can be reached by phone and I have helpful neighbours and family in the area to check in if you were ever to need anything.

Otros aspectos destacables

I recommend purchasing your groceries before you leave where ever you are visiting from. There is a small grocery store in Plevna but it doesn't offer the same variety of what you would find in a city and isn't always open. There is an LCBO in Plevna which is 15 minutes away.

If coming from Toronto or the West the last place to get gas is in Northbrook. There is also a Food Land grocery store there to pick up last minute things or all of your things. It's a good one!

There is a wood stove and instructions to use it are in the guest book that can be found on the kitchen table at the cabin. There is enough wood there for you to use to make things easy. Most information needed can be found in that book.

I also have a propane furnace. I keep it at 55 or the lowest setting whenever I leave. You are welcome to adjust it as necessary while you are there but you should be warned that if the wood stove and the furnace is set at even 65 you will roast!

Second stay at Krista's cottage and enjoyed it once again, she is a great host. I would definitely recommend a stay at her place to relax and unwind away from the city.

The little cozy cabin is on a beautiful property with picturesque gardens, an amazing view of Palmerston Lake and some great opportunities to take it all in, like from the hammock overlooking the lake, over a campfire at one of the two fire pits, or enjoying the views from inside the cozy cabin. The location is amazing, literally just steps from The Palmerston Canonto Conservation Area which is stunning and includes 5km of hiking trails - that may not sound like a lot to some of you but many of them include quite an elevation change so can spend a lot of time exploring here. The cabin is well stocked from kitchen-wear to entertainment gear, we didn't need a thing during our stay. My only complaint was with the shower, it needed a bit of TLC. The bathroom has a window but no fan so a lot of moisture collects. The shower surround was warped and curling in spots and there looked like there was mold in some areas. Beyond that the cabin is wonderful. I loved the "cottagey" (that's a word right?) decor and felt very comfortable relaxing inside or out. We also brought our dog, a little 20 pound Cockapoo, and he had a fabulous time exploring the property, hiking the trails and sitting by the campfire. Always great to have a dog-friendly cottage option! Krista was responsive, helpful and friendly, answered any of our questions, always super timely.

We loved our stay at this cabin. It was a quiet and secluded getaway from the bustle of city life, but very easy to find. There were nice walking trails right next to the cabin with great hilltop views of the lakes surrounding the area. The wood stove was excellent and Krista supplied lots of wood. We parked ourselves in her recliners in front of the stove and enjoyed the solitude with great views of the lake. Highly recommended!

I loved this cottage. It is the perfect place to go if you are looking to escape from the noisy cities. The cottage is cozy and has everything you need to have a great time. The view from the house is beautiful, and I could spend hours looking out the window contemplating the environment. Furthermore, there are many trails around the area which are absolutely gorgeous. We hiked the green trail, which leads to an overlook of another lake next to the cabin. The area was like a winter wonderland, and all four of us really enjoyed hiking through the snow. Also, the roads are very well maintained considering the cabin is a little far from the nearest town. The day we left, it had snowed about 15-20 cm, and when we woke up, the roads were all cleared. Therefore, if you are looking to go somewhere calm where you can appreciate the beauty of nature, this cabin is in the perfect spot for that.

I'm from a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada. I currently live in Toronto and enjoy my weekends at my cabin in Ompah, Ontario. I work in community based mental health care as a case manager. I love to travel, I've back packed a fairly good portion of the world and now I kinda just want to explore where I'm from. I love all seasons and decided long ago that if I was going to live in Canada I was going to embrace all the weather it has to offer as well as the wilderness and the outdoors. I love hiking! Biking is cool. And nothing beats paddling on a glass lake. If you have any questions please ask, I'm pretty friendly.
