I mostly appreciate the feedback from Lester and his group. I would love to take a moment and respond to his critique:
1- Bubbled Ceiling from previous water leaks in living room. Thank you Lester, there is a small amount of bubbleing with NO discoloration. The leak is fixed. Your group was in no danger of drowning:). Due to the paint not being yellowed or showing any discoloration that make the room aesthetically unappealing we choose to not repaint.
2- Poorly repaired drywall, rough edges not painted or repaired in Kitchen. True. There is some spots where people coming and going have nicked the corners. I have sanded and have put some sealant in a few small areas that do not affect the functionality of the home. I will add a picture of both of these issues on my main profile so any future guests that do not want very miner wall damage can avoid this location. Note! We advertise this location specifically as an outdoor enthusiast dream spot. Four wheelers, athletes that want dirt trails and hiking, active golfers that want to get away. We expect some wall knicks and bumps as people come in and out with their toys. It all gets repaired Along the way, but we focus on functionality first.
3- Clothing and bedding on Master Closet Floor. This might be true, not sure. The Master Bedroom is open to our guests, the Master Bathroom is open to our guests. We have a specific barrier set up to keep guests OUT of the Master Bedroom closet as we keep our personal and private items in this small room. I’m not sure why Lester was poking around in this room.
4- Odd Smells. NOT true at all. Unless you don’t like the smell that comes from pure fresh air. We live in the country down a dirt road. It is the cleanest purest freshest smelling place. I highly recommend both inside and outside smells to anyone.
5- Strange Lighting. I guess it could seem strange to persons that are not used to LED lighting. We have our home as eco friendly as possible. We used LED lighting throughout the home. We also have “normal” 110 volt lighting throughout the home for those “uncomfortable” with LED lighting. The light switch simply needs to be turned to on position.
6- Feel like a DIY house. My understanding is that DIY homes are homes you build yourself from a kit? If that’s what is meant I guess it could be a compliment...
7- There are no window coverings. True. There is no need for window coverings based upon the style of home we offer. We built our home on a view lot. We built in LARGE picture windows. The views are breathtaking. No one is able to see in to our home unless a ladder is used to climb up to second floor. We are very modest people and do not have our guests at risk for being seen unclothed or otherwise.
8- Sister Lives Close by. False. Actually TWO of my sisters live “close by” I don’t know why I need to disclose this, but I would love to let everyone know that I have two sisters that live across a 5 acre field from me. They wont bother you, they both have husbands that they “bother” :)
9- Can Not drink water out of tap because the property has a well. Kind of true. The home does use well water. I have told every guest both in person and in our listing that the home has well water. You actually can drink it if you wish. I simply suggested that RIGHT NEXT TO THE WATER TAP is a spigot for filtered water that would taste better.
10- They left two cars on property. True. I also give my guests 1/2 acre of free parking. Not sure why this is a problem. We have had multiple truck and trailers and four wheelers all park with no risk of damage to the guest vehicles.
11- Yes this is my primary residence. We do not stay at our home when guests come to our home. In our listing we explain this clearly.
12- There is no cable TV or Satelite. We do have several movie options through HULU, NETFLIX, AMAZON etc. we provide passwords and free use on a 75 inch 4K plasma TV. No one has ever complained about this before. I plan to add the fact we do not have cable TV or Satelite TV.
13- This group threatened me with a negative, horrible, review unless I worked with them by changing my cancelation policy. It is clearly stated that I require cancelations to be 5 days prior to check in for a full refund. This group texted me an hour after check in (during tour of property no complaints were lodged) that they would be leaving due to not enough beds for their group. It is in our listing that we have 5 beds. Due to what I considered a dishonest request and the threat of making up a horrible review for non-compliance with their demands I did respond by placing Lester on notice that he would be accountable for any stolen property.
14-Sister met them on property. True, she manages it for us when we are vacationing.
15- Property difficult to find on a dirt road. Not True, unless your directionally challenged. We do offer guides to get to property on your first trip in. Lester did not accept this offer. It is noted that he arrived at our home exactly at the time he stated he would arrive which tells me he had no actual difficulty finding our home.
Our home is at the end of a meticulously groomed gravel road, as stated in out Listing profile in two different places.
16- Fridge was full. Nope. We leave items for our guests to use in our refrigerator. We leave condiments, bottled water, items that we think our guests may forget to purchase for their meals. We invited Lester and his group to enjoy the few items we left for them. There is always tons of space for guests to put their own items.
17- Lester states that our home is in need of repair. Look at the listing photos. You will see a beautiful well kept home. We love our home. Our guests that stay at our home love our home.
18- Lester states that our home has a FREE cancelation policy. False. It is clearly stated that we require a 5 day notice to cancel. In order to provide our guests with a clean, well organized home for their experiences we put a lot of work into getting our home ready for our guests. We also plan our travels around our guests arrivals. 5 days notice of need to cancel is simply a polite request. We have worked with others in the past on their cancelation needs. We work with guests that do not bully us.
I am sad that Lester and his group did not enjoy our home. With some communication from his party I am certain we could have created a mutually enjoyable outcome.
I am sad that Lester felt the need to exploit some of my homes lived in qualities. I think most would agree this home is extremely comfortable and sanitary.
I am confused at how finicky the feedback became as the group was actually in home less than an hour. I wonder how Les and his group managed getting their needs met anywhere else...
I believe that if Lester would come stay with us next year, I would tease him a bit for being ruthless with his feedback, but we would likely get along just fine.
