We want you to know that we’re doing our part to help our Airbnb guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.) before you check in. We offer a comfortable and warm room in a new apartment with bathroom that only you will use in a safe, quiet and lovely neighborhood. Some of the best restaurants, entertainment and shopping places within walking distance or short car rides.

El alojamiento
On offer a guest bedroom with a double bed that accommodates up to two persons in the apartment in which I live. Guest(s) will have a bathroom with a glass door walk-in shower for exclusive use (you don’t have to share it with anyone else).

Guests will have access only to their bedroom and their bathroom, this is to better protect themselves and the host from the Coronavirus pandemic.

To open and close the curtains please use the curtain strings or chords, don´t do it by hand.

The apartment has a water heater which means that you'll get hot water 24 hours a day in your bathroom. It also means you'll get good water pressure in the shower as opposed to showers that don't have water heaters.

The apartment is in a third floor (there is an elevator).

Clean sheets, bedding and towels are provided and changed every week (if you stay for more than a week).

There is wireless internet in the apartment and cable TV in your room which also has a DVD player and a wide variety of movies you can choose from.

The bedroom has a heater in case the temperature drops and you feel the need to use it, although the apartment gets lots of sun and is generally warm.

As your host I’ll be happy to assist and help accommodate any needs/requests as well as point you in the right direction for tourism, shopping and entertainment.

Check-in/check-out times are set, so they are the default times, but I can be flexible depending on circumstances. Please tell me before booking though if you are arriving early in the day or late at night; likewise regarding the time that you may be leaving.

What you get that is not included in the standard amenities:

- Exclusive use of bathroom
- Hot water 24 hours a day in the bathroom
- Clean sheets and towels every week (if stay is for more than a week)

What you get as standard amenities:

- Wireless internet that accommodates more than one device

Nuestra Señora de La Paz, La Paz Department, Bolivia

The apartment is located in the south side of the city, Calacoto to be exact, one of the best residential neighborhoods of La Paz, so it is very quiet and safe.

Calacoto is about three to four hundred meters less in altitude than the center of town which is 3,600 meters above sea level, which means it is two to three degrees centigrade warmer and there is more oxygen! (La Paz is between 3100 and 3900 meters above sea level, depending on what part of the city you’re at; that translates to about 10,170 feet to 12,795 feet, or between 1.93 and 2.42 miles. Denver is left far behind! (Or should I say below?).

The apartment is ten blocks from San Miguel, a prime commercial and shopping center and the trendiest neighborhood of La Paz, where you’ll find a number of cafes and excellent restaurants of all kinds, featuring local as well as international fare.

One of the 20 best restaurants in Latin America, Gustu, is just a block away. It offers one of the finest combinations of fusion/local food anywhere.

Six blocks away you will find the Green Line cable car (teleférico) station. The best views of the city can be had from it, really special. Plus it´s safe and cheap.

Five blocks in the opposite direction from the apartment you can find a couple of the most popular bars and pubs in town. There is also a mall with a multiplex and more restaurants and pubs, as well as commercial outlets of all kinds, bank branches and ATMs, about nine blocks away.

There is a supermarket within walking distance (five to ten minutes) and there are a couple of tiny grocery stores around the corner.

There is a very nice pub/restaurant that goes by the name Risky Business that also serves breakfast some fifty meters from the apartment. Three blocks away is the five stars Camino Real Hotel with the La Tranquera restaurant that offers fine Bolivian and international food. Also three blocks away there is a pastry place, Arco Iris, it is a good alternative to Risky Business. There is a drugstore diagonal to the Camino Real Hotel.

When I was at George Washington University in Washington D.C. years ago I stumbled upon Airbnb. It seemed like a great idea so I decided to give it a try. I wanted to visit some friends up in New York and take in the U.S. Open as well so I booked a stay in a place in Queens (where I used to live when I was in grade school) and it worked out fine. When I returned home I decided to try the opposite side of the coin and be a host, I must admit, not without a little bit of trepidation. I mean, I had roommates in college with whom I even shared the same room, but that was a long time ago. So, since I had a spare bedroom in the place where I was living I went ahead and rented it out through Airbnb. Anyway, I’m happy to say that I’ve enjoyed hosting interesting and fine guests and I’m glad that I decided to become a host. Now that I have the chance to be a host for an entire apartment I’m looking forward to meeting other interesting and fine people. My hope is that I might make a difference in their, actually your, enjoyment and appreciation of La Paz if you come here, helping you to have the best experience possible. See you soon!
