The house is nice and quaint. Had plenty of blankets which was great. Many small restaurants and stores that were walk friendly. I had a lovely stay there!

We stayed at Kelly's Hillcrest cottage for a week while getting my son settled into school at UCSD. The house is small and older and cute, and located perfectly to access all the great things the Hillcrest neighborhood has to offer. It was within walking distance to many great food options and conveniences like groceries and drugstores. Parking is metered or limited by time, but most often we were able to snag the spot right in front of the house or else somewhere on the block or down the cross-street. We got one expired meter ticket which was our fault because we honestly only occasionally paid the meter & got away with it the rest of the time haha. It's in an urban atmosphere, but always felt safe, even though there's a fair number of homeless/mentally ill in the area. In my experience that's typical of San Diego though and it didn't stop us from walking around at night. We didn't have any issues with typical city noise - actually the nice fans in the house provide nice white noise as well as cool off the house and get the air moving when it's a warmer day. When we were there we also kept the front inner door open (with the outer door locked) and that helped to keep it cool too. Evenings were always comfortable. Both beds are pretty uncomfortable, as other reviewers have said. If it's just one person sleeping on the sofabed they might be more comfortable just sleeping on the couch and not opening the bed. Something I loved was that the shower had really great water pressure and the hot water lasted forever even through the whole family getting ready. Kitchen had what we needed to cook, although we didn't much because there are so many good restaurants in San Diego. Kelly was super accessible and checking in and out with the lockbox was easy. We'd love to stay there again next time we're in town. I swear it never took more than 20 minutes to get to any of the other parts of town we wanted to go so it's a great location in general on top of being in a fun neighborhood.

Stayed here for 2 nights for a weekend getaway with my husband and 3 year old daughter. The place was as described in terms of the space and location. Based on our weekend plans, the location was ideal - close to Sea World and Balboa Park. We loved that there were lots of restaurants within walking distance. The cottage is spacious enough for a small family and having the extra pull out bed was nice. As other reviewers mentioned, there's NO cable box or AC. One more thing to note, the bathtub did not have a rubber mat, so if you're not careful your weekend trip can trip you up! Other than that the unit was decently kept up, lots of linens, pillows and towels. One other suggestion I'd make for the owners is to welcome folks with a few water bottles. Thankfully we found a Trader Joes 1 mile away and stocked up. All in all, not a bad experience, and communication was quick and easy.

Kelly's place was such a comfortable stay and in a great location to access the best of the Hillcrest neighborhood. Street parking was not that difficult either, fortunately! I would definitely stay here again if I find myself in San Diego. thanks kelly!

The apartment was exactly as it was described on Airbnb. It was very clean and a great place to stay for my visit to San Diego. Kelly was very quick to respond when I had a question. She communicated clearly how I was to check-in and the things to do for check out. I think the best thing about her apartment was location. I was able to walk to all of the restaurants, shops and bars from here. In addition, Balboa park was only 1 block away. The next time I am in San Diego I will definitely try and book her apartment again.

comfortable place, close to balboa park, 10 min ride to little italy, downtown, walking distance to some great restaurants, not ideal for avid beach goers, moderately busy street.
