There are not enough words to describe how much I loved my stay here. The room was perfect and the location convenient. There is a grocery store nearby and getting around on public transit is easy. Elisa and her family were amazing and really made me feel like I was part of that family. She also offered great advice on how to get around to some of the popular tourist locations. I feel like I gained lifelong friends during my stay with them. I highly recommend her to anyone!

The perfect place to stay on your arrival in El Salvador. It's in a safe neighbourhood and in a gated/fenced area with someone overseeing the gate 24/7. Just holler if he's not right at the gate when you return. Of course, any area in San Salvador is not completely safe at night so the usual rules still apply. If you're involved in anything at the Centro de Intercambio y Solidaridad or Universidad de El Salvador, it's within walking distance of both. Elisa and her mother were incredibly helpful in our getting accustomed to ES and finding our way around. We opted for airport pickup and Elisa's mother took us out for a day trip to downtown and some points of interest out of town. The fees for this were very reasonable. Elisa can help you plan some things to see/do and arrange a taxi for a reasonable rate. The sitting areas are lovely. We had the combo single or double room and while it is on the smaller side for 2 people, we really didn't notice it much, considering the wealth of local knowledge and space in the rest of the house that's available. Hot water is available, which isn't too common in ES. The bathroom that is attached to this double/single room is small, including the shower. For a longer stay for a bigger person, you might want to check which bathroom you'd be using, as it depends on the room. It was no problem for me, being small. I'd definitely stay here again!

This is the home of very kind, generous El Salvadorian women. Elisa, her mom and her sister welcomed me like I was family. Their house helper, Lila is also a caring lady who makes a yummy local breakfast. Communication was easy and Elisa speaks good English (though I did most of it in Spanish). Check-in was smooth and Elisa's mum kindly picked me up at the bus station because I arrived late at night - she even had a name board. It's little gestures like this that make staying here so special. The house is in a gated community and feels safe. I even walked to the local shops and pupusaria during the day without any concern. Elisa was happy to share local knowledge and nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom is simple but has everything you need and private bathroom is a plus. I had full access to the house and kitchen to cook meals, do some washing and use the wifi. I was in El Salvador for a specific reason and Elisa, her mom and sister gave me lots of support. If you like to meet locals on your travels, I highly recommend staying with Elisa and her family in San Salvador. I'll miss these wonderful women!

Elisa, her sister Laura, and their mother were the nicest and most helpful people I've met through Airbnb. They went out of their way to help me in every aspect of my trip. I truly owe them so much and I will always be grateful to have met them. They picked me up from the airport (even loaned me money for immigration), took me to many different touristic sites, and made sure that I had everything I needed. One time, Laura waited for me for 3 hours while I hiked around the San Salvador volcano in the dark (worst idea ever). Not only did I have an amazing time in El Salvador, I am also happy to have made new friends with my hosts. I believe anyone looking for a place to stay in San Salvador should not hesitate to choose Elisa's place. I hope I will be back again soon to see them.

Elisa made me feel very welcome and showed me a great time during my short stay. I even got to eat some homemade Salvadoran food for breakfast! I highly recommend this place for someone who wants to get to see San Salvador without staying in a congested area. Yes, the garden with hammock is as amazing as it looks.

Elisa and her family were fabulous! They have just started hosting travelers, and were happy to ensure I had a good visit and found everything I needed. The neighborhood is secure -- there is a security gate at the street -- and there are enough shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. There are several bus stops within a few blocks that will take you most places you would want to go during the day. The location is residential, and there are people on the street until after sunset. There are some street stalls selling local food for $1, so its a good place to try street food. The location may not be safe to walk late at night, but that is the same advice for the entire city. Elisa and her family can call taxis at night direct to the door, so you can move around easily. You will not see other tourists, so if you want an authentic experience this is the place! The room is separate from the main house, so you can come and go without worrying about disturbing people, but the kitchen and living room are accessible whenever you need it. The room itself is small but all a traveler would require. The only possible issue is that the bathroom is quite a tight squeeze. I am 205 pounds and I can fit ok, but a much larger person might struggle to get into the shower. The family provides towels, sheets and everything else. All in all, it is a good alternative to a hotel in the Zona Rosa or downtown, which would definitely not be safe to walk at night. Elisa speaks good English and can assist you. Her family is very hospitable and wants you to feel welcome.
