A small, private one bedroom apartment in a funky old one-story duplex located 10 minutes from downtown Seattle and the University District.

El alojamiento
This is a small apartment in an historic building that once served as a barn on the farm that marked the northern border of the City of Seattle. It was converted into a home sometime in the 1940’s and has a quirky, funky vibe.

There is one cozy bedroom and a new IKEA sleeper sofa that opens to a double bed in the living room. Bedding for the sleeper sofa is located inside the sofa, simply pull the tab on the front and the bed opens easily (see pictures). Bedding is 100% cotton with a down comforter and super comfy.

Cream-colored carpeting is covered with area rugs for extra cushioning in the living areas. Roku TV with complimentary Netflix is on the wall of the living room. The apartment has been freshly painted and fixtures have been updated but it’s still cute and funky and a little off-kilter.

The bathroom has a spacious standing shower with a skylight and the most awesome water pressure in the world. The shower insert is showing it’s age but it’s super clean and works well. Access to the bathroom is through the bedroom, so your group needs to be comfortable enough with each other that you can walk through the bedroom to access the bathroom.

The bed has a brand new Leesa mattress on an incredibly sturdy Japanese tatami bed frame. The bedframe does not move. Ever. All the sheets are organic cotton ( flannel in winter) and the winter comforter is an incredible down duvet that I love dearly. Summertime calls for cotton! The pillows are down and wool filled. Enjoy this bed, it’s set up to be warm, healthy and super comfortable.

The kitchen has a small electric stove and range, simple white cabinets, new microwave, gourmet cookware, new dishes and stainless flatware, coffee and tea, and staple ingredients for oatmeal. Whatever you find is fair game to use. The fridge usually includes yogurt, cream and non dairy creamer options and sparkling water.

The heaters are simple electric wall heaters in the living room and bedroom that keep this small space warm. There are extra space heaters available as well should you need them. In winter I usually run a space heater in the bathroom to keep the floors from being cold.

Acceso para huéspedes
The door has a coded lock that will be customized for you. You get the entire apartment! It's a wonderful, charming, quiet little space. Enjoy your stay!

Otros aspectos destacables
This house is private and secluded, hidden away behind other houses, yet 10 minutes from downtown Seattle, within two blocks of several bus lines, close to light rail, and 2 miles from the University of Washington. Neighborhood coffee shops, groceries and other amenities make it a great place to stay and use for your base camp for your Seattle adventure! 30 minutes from the mountains, 15 minutes from two different ferries that go to the islands and the Olympic Peninsula.

SPECIAL NOTE: There are security cameras and motion sensor lights installed outside.

If you’re driving, there’s plenty of street parking as well as a designated space next to the house. My advice if you drive up the driveway is to turn around and back in so that you’re facing back down the driveway. It’s tough to back down.

SUMMER: Very few homes in Seattle have air conditioning, because there are only a few days out of the year when it’s hot here. If it’s warm, keep the curtains closed during the day and use fans and open the front door when you get home to move air through the apartment and cool it down for sleep. After the sun sets here the temperature always drops to a comfortable range.

Maple Leaf is a popular, old neighborhood of Seattle, directly north of the University of Washington. Many coffee shops (Cloud City is my favorite!) grocery stores (PCC, Whole Foods) restaurants (Cloud City Coffee is spectacular and Snappy Dragon is a famous Chinese restaurant you can walk to) and breweries (walking distance!) make it a great neighborhood to stay and visit.

Rowing coach, jewelry artist project manager/business analyst, and now, hostess! I love providing a secluded, clean, pretty, funky Seattle space for people who are visiting the Pacific Northwest. I've lived here for 20 years and love to share this beautiful place. I love Seattle; it has two mountain ranges, many lakes, the ocean, rugged hiking, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, great culture, amazing food, and you can row year round. Perfect for me. My hosting style is hands off; you're here to play and enjoy the scene. I'm rarely home anyway (usually out on the water) but I love to be available to help with anything! Just message me on Airbnb.
