Our house is on a quiet block steps away from lively Magazine Street, where you can find coffee houses, great restaurants and bars, music, and dozens of interesting shops. Close to Tulane, Loyola, Audubon Park.
This little gem of a New Orleans house was built in 1898, so it spans three centuries! We have lived here for years, and have worked on the house to renew it without changing its essential flavor. The house itself is the most important antique we own, with its heart-pine floors, 12' ceilings, oriental carpets, cypress millwork, 3 porches, and a tropical garden. It is a beloved and very personal space, full of art and books collected over the years.
The separate entrance to the private bedroom and bath is through the back garden; a covered porch right outside the door has a table and chairs so you can enjoy a private al fresco coffee in the morning, or a glass of wine after a busy day. The bedroom, with a queen size bed, has bay windows overlooking banana trees, a high-speed Internet connection, and a 42" flat screen TV with Netflix and HBO. You can enjoy a soothing bath in the large Jacuzzi tub while gazing up at the clouds through three skylights. A microwave and mini-fridge are in the room, along with coffee- and tea-making equipment. We provide coffee and several kinds of tea, as well as some breads or muffins so that you can enjoy your own continental breakfast.
Because this is New Orleans, there are many special events for which the nightly rent will increase especially during the Mardi Gras season when there are 9 parades that go down Magazine Street.
Disponible para huéspedes
We live in the front of the house, which is a typical "side hall cottage." Out of our kitchen a long hall connects to the private bedroom and bath you will be using in the rear of the house. You are welcome to use our washer, dryer, and iron, which are in the kitchen. You'll have a key to our back door, which you access by way of a path through the garden. There is lighting so you'll be able to find your way at night. You'll also have a front door key in case it rains and you just need to get inside. Our back porch is all yours, and you are welcome to sit on the front porch as well, and see what's going on in the neighborhood.
Atención a los huéspedes
We live here, and will be ready to help if you need us, otherwise we will leave you alone.
Otros aspectos destacables
We have an indoor/outdoor cat. He spends most of his time outside, and is never allowed in the bedroom where you will stay, but if you are allergic, you need to know that he does come inside the rest of the house.-
