Gentleman's brick home of 1810 with formal parlor on 134 acres. The scenery and the grounds are perfect for strolls around the pond or woods. The house is impeccably appointed with elegant, luxurious furnishings, beautiful paintings, cozy fireplaces and woodstoves. This home is for people who enjoy the finer things. Located in Central Vermont, within an hour from 3 major ski resorts and within 10-30 minutes from several fine restaurants and golf courses. Artist Retreats also available.

El lugar

This 1810 brick is a formal house with a center hall and taller ceilings then most Vt capes. Upstairs there is a large bedroom with a queen bed and downstairs there is a library room with a twin bed that are being used as guests rooms. The library is full of books of a variety of topics, and has a writing desk, a chair and the twin bed. There is a large dining room that seats 12 with a very large early 19th century fireplace that also has a brick oven. The living room has a wood stove and a Steinway grand piano off of a small entertainment kitchen. Recently renovated is my new art studio which is available for private art lessons and artist retreats. For an additional fee, the art studio can be available, the use of which can be determined on a case by case basis.

Disponible para huéspedes

Guests have access to all of the house. There is a lovely town road that goes through the center of the farm with stone walls for walks, and a 2 and 1/2 acre pond stocked with tons of bass. There is a patio and stone grill, as well as a gas grill. There's a basketball hoop in the large red barn for a pick me up game. Wildlife is abundant, and you might see a bear, wild turkeys, deer, mink, geese, ducks and even owls. You certainly might hear one!

Atención a los huéspedes

I can be available or I can make myself scarce. It is fun to socialize with guests if everyone is in the mood! I look forward to meeting new people and making new friends. But if you are in need of quiet and solitude, that is fine too. Guest will be asked to share a bathroom with others in the house. In some cases, depending on the circumstances, a private bath can be arranged.

Otros aspectos destacables

There's a fireplace insert in the parlor, which is very cozy. It is capable of heating the entire main house so I try to keep it going. In my world, there is nothing more lovely then the steady heat from a wood stove, especially if it is biting cold and snowy outside. If you are in the mood for a fire, the doors can be open to view the flames for a while. There are opportunities for cross country, skiing, snow shoeing, mountain biking, fishing, hiking..right outside the doorstep. The farm is only about three miles outside of the village of Randolph. Also, there are the possibilities of wedding sties and events.

The house's location is gorgeous and it has tons of character. Carolyn was really friendly and helpful, sharing delicious, home-baked bread for breakfast. Just make sure to confirm with the host beforehand who else is staying in the house (tenants, etc.) and how many beds and bedrooms will be available (for us it was fewer than advertised).

Respuesta de Carolyn:
I'm apologize for any misunderstanding I may have contributed to. I believed I made it clear in my phone conversation with Christina what beds I had available. Also I repeatedly asked for a head count to be sure I could provide what was needed. I didn't hear back. The group became stuck in traffic and I waited up until 11:30 in order to make sure they were settled in properly when they arrived. I didn't know how many there were until they arrived. I even checked with someone who had been listening to me explain that I had two queens, a twin and a fold out available. As a result of this misunderstanding I revised my Airbnb listing to one Queen and one twin. This is my home and not a house devoted to Airbnb guests as some Airbnb guests might be used to. There are other things going on here. It is a working farm and I have a professional art studio. In the case of booking an ar retreat different sleeping arrangements are possible.

This is one of my first experiences booking air bnb on my own - in the past it has been done by friends and/or my husband. This stands out as one of the best experiences and short getaways we have ever had! We are CT residents and wanted to enjoy fall in Vermont. We were not disappointed! The four hour drive is easy and quick - a straight shot from NYC and southern CT. When we arrived, the home was cozy and warm and Carolyn greeted us with familiar hospitality. The home is huge - exactly as described, extremely elegant, complete with paintings by the host/owner, as she is a professional landscape and portrait artist, a grand Steinway piano, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, large oriental rugs covering wood floors, three large sheep skin rugs cover the floor in one of the bedrooms, a library full of books from floor to ceiling, a pedestal bathtub, gorgeous curtains provide privacy - everything about this home and stay was grand. The kitchen with a large window overlooking the pond and barn is a perfect place for morning coffee. Overall, I felt like we were in Ralph Lauren's home! As for the location, the home is on a large piece of property, which we did not even get to walk all of it - there is a beautiful, very Vermont red barn and a pond full of halibut. We spent the weekend, but it felt like a week being worlds away from the city and suburbs of NYC/Greenwich, CT. It was quiet and romantic, and provided us with a great trip with our 5 month old son and my Mom. We enjoyed visiting downtown Randolph, which is about 8 minutes away from the home (which is located in Braintree). Randolph has cute restaurants (go to Black Krim!) and coffee shops. It was a wonderful experience and I encourage you to select this home for your stay if you are looking for a private, elegant, experience full of class. I forgot to mention the fireplaces - there are those too! We didn't use them during this stay, but if we book again this winter, we sure will.
