Jose Manuel's home in Sazos is a dream come true. The house and the town are unbelievably beautiful. Mountains surround you on all sides. The little town of Sazos is a gem with lovely architecture. Jose's home is lovingly and thoughtfully appointed with all of the things you could possibly want to enjoy your vacation in the Pyrenees. We so enjoyed the obvious care and joy that has been invested in this home. Jose provided us with lovely linens, a very comfortable bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a glorious garden to eat and relax in, and even left us a lovely bottle of wine and a fully stocked larder to use and replenish. It was so easy to feel at home, to have meals, to take a great restorative shower after a full day of walking in the nearby mountains.
The nearby towns of Luz and Saint Sauveur are delightful and have markets, pharmacies, bakeries, butcher shops, atms, gas stations, and great restaurants! The walking and hiking in the area is world class. We spent 9 days and took a different route every day to lakes, cirques, along mountain streams, through forests and meadows and saw marmots, izards (wild mountain sheep) birds galore and all manner of Pyrenees livestock.
In the evenings we went to free concerts in the center of Sazos and in Luz at the church of the Templars. One night we heard Italian opera, another pop covers, another South American music and a fourth night a classical violoncello master.
Throughout our trip Jose stayed in touch to make sure that we were having a good time and that we had everything that we needed. Such a great and caring host. We hope we will be able to return in the future!
