Our place is completely and totally isolated. The cabins are perfect for hunting, fishing, beachcombing, and kayaking. We recommend our place for couples, solo adventurers, or small group retreats. Eventually, it would make an amazing wedding venue. The cabins are not on the Kodiak mainland, but rather on a nearby island. You will have to contact me to find out information about getting from Kodiak to Whale Island.
The Whale Cabin is very rustic, but cozy. It has been used as a hunting cabin for years. It has a queen-sized Tempurpedic bed and bunk beds. It is a dry cabin, but has a fully equipped kitchen. The wood burning stove offers plenty of warmth in for the winter season. It has a dining room table, a lazy boy chair, and a TV/VCR. I have provided plenty of videos to watch. Also, the cabin is right on the cove with a view of the water.
Disponible para huéspedes
You can access all 4 acres of the property, the lakeside at the rear of the property, and the beaches below the high tide mark. You will not need a Daily Use Permit from the Afognak Native Corporation to walk elsewhere on the island unless you plan to hunt or fish.
Atención a los huéspedes
You will be completely alone and unhosted unless you are there in the summer. The property is set up to run remotely. You will receive a key to a lockbox and you will have to operate a generator to have power. There is no wifi or computer access and very little telephone reception. AT&T does not work, but Verizon does. You may need to take a SAT phone. I do have friends on Kodiak if there is an emergency or urgent need.
Otros aspectos destacables
The cabin is dry. There is an outhouse and clean rainwater. This is an amazingly remote vacation. It is unlike anything else you have experienced. If you book with me, I will make sure you have all the information you need to get yourself settled in. Check out my social media page "Whale Island Cabins," my website by the same (URL HIDDEN) or follow "wickodiak" on the photoplace.

I am a high school English teacher who is preparing her retirement. This property is new to us, but will evolve into a full log lodge within 13 years. I love Alaska with all my heart and soul. Kodiak is truly heaven on earth.
My favorite place to be when I am not working is Whale Island. I plan to spend June and July there hosting guests. I am an unobtrusive host, but will be available when needed. I will accommodate in any way I can. I would even be willing to cook for you, if you like. I will help you with your passage to the island as well. Just contact me and tell me what you need.
