Sweet, historic, shotgun bunglow nestled in front of a huge, live 100 year tree. Super quiet street, yet just blocks from everything cool! My home in East Midtown/Virginia Highlands is casually elegant, w/ a rustic bohemian feel. I love my little house and you will too! Furnished screened porch with daybed swing that sleeps two. Warm living room w/ fireplace. Exposed brick & bead board kitchen & bath. Full sized. Pillow-top bed. Shaker style white kitchen with stone counters. Charming!
If you like charm, warmth, coziness and convenience, this place rocks. Really quiet neighborhood, yet 1-2 block walk from Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Starbucks, and restaurant shopping. A block or so from Piedmont Park, the beltline. 8 blocks to Virginia Highlands. On the dividing line between Virginia Highlands, Midtown, and Poncy Highlands, you will be minutes away from downtown, Old Fourth Ward, Buckhead, Emory, etc.
Full sized sized bed, and a comfortable couch make sleeping for 3 possible. Daybed swing folds down into a full sized bed on screened porch!
Only 750 square feet. The panoramic pictures make it look bigger than it is! If you are looking for contemporary and new, this is not your place! This is a bit rustic, maybe a bit Bohemian Chic. I hve been rennovating it, and am almost done, but, not quite there! This changes weekly so I may be done by the time you stay. Oh wait. I'll never be done! I love this stuff! Building garden structures with organic gardens, and mixed borders now! Who knows what will inspire me next?! (Yes...I am one of those!)
This is perfect for couples wanting a romantic or fun in town get-away, or for a single person. This is a one bedroom, shotgun style home, which means that one has to walk through one room to get to the next, vs. a hallway. The bedroom is between the kitchen and the bath, thus you walk through the bedroom to get to the kitchen or bath from the living room and porch. Keep that in mind if privacy is an issue, as the french door opening exposes the bedroom to the living room, and there is no door.
This is not an vacant furnished house. This is my primary residence, and a warm welcoming home. I move out when you move in. Feel free to borrow what you need, and replace what you take. Think of it like you're staying at a friend's place! (albeit a small one!) I look forward to welcoming you into my world!

The house is the left side of a duplex. I also air bnb the other side, so this is great for two couples who want a weekend get away, but who rach want their own place. Feel free to park in the driveway and enter on the LEFT side, through the screened in porch, off of the driveway.
This is a brick house split from front to back into to separate homes. Thus, it's not appropriate for parties, loud music, or guests other than registered guests. Sorry. Not young kid friendly, although fine for older ones. Also, as much as I love animals, my lease doesn't allow them. The same goes for smoking.
No smokers, please.
I sound like Mom, don't I? :-)
Also, the house is almost through with an update, but isn't completely done. Let's talk before we book to make sure that you are aware of what I am working on! Currently, I am starting to to plan some organic garden beds and am getting ready to build a picket fence, and re-landscaping. Since we have done so much construction, dust continues to settle.
Also, although this is not a "rule", I want you to be aware that this is a one bedroom house and the bedroom is open to the living room...see pictures. There is no door between tbe two rooms, thus privacy between the rooms is lacking. This house is best for a single person or a couple.
Please let me know you have read this, and agree to the house rules by typing "sunshine" in the subject line. :-)
My life is decidedly focused on "community". Nearly all of my passions seem to have "connection" as the fulcrum. If it involves connecting people, business, or concepts, I am fascinated, and involved.
I am intrigued with people and culture. I LOVE being able to visit with someone and understand THEM. I'm fascinated with people's stories about how they got where they are, what their life is like, how their world looks through THEIR eyes. Understanding, not judging. Accepting, not changing. Learning. And, most of all, growing.
So, of course, travel is a great love. But...not the first world travel where I stay in fancy-schmancy hotels, and hang with "westerners", rather, the "let's go someplace where we can't even BELIEVE people live like this, or think like this!" I like the "let's sleep in their village, eat their food, walk in their shoes, and and get to know and understand THEM!" kind of travel.
As the saying goes, there are no such things as strangers...just friends I haven't yet met. Hence, I love the air BNB experience, both as a host, and a guest!
I grew up on a ranch in South Dakota, breaking and training horses, rodeoing, milking cows and catching frogs. I had pretty amazing parents who let my 9 brothers and sisters and me forge our own paths, while insisting we be resourceful, work really, really hard, give without expecting, share, and to be curious. Oh, and to speak with good grammar and do so without cussing.
I *mostly* listened!
Ok, I rarely listened.
But, some lessons stuck with me. I live with no agendas. I give freely and openly. If reciprocated, awesome. If not, that works too. I build great relationships and have lots of close friends.
But what I am really passionate about is proactively making the world a more kind, loving, and compassionate reality in tiny, unexpected ways. I love to talk about it, and love to inspire others to think more deeply and to live, and love, more consciously.
And, by they way, almost nothing lifts my spirits more than getting together and talking deeply, laughing loudly and loving... and being an integral part of creating amazing, soul nourishing environments with people I care about.
Other soul food? Good, deep, thought provoking books, movies, documentaries and conversations, even if I don't share the expressed opinions. Laughing... Silly dancing... And business strategy.
I have never outgrown that ridiculously self-reliant, and independent tomboy I was raised to be. Nor my need to wear high heels, twirly dresses and pink. The higher the heels, the happier I am. And yes, I have been known to mountain bike in 5 inch stilettos. Just a couple of days ago, in fact!
A while back, I was asked what my "secret" was for being so happy. I said my life profoundly changed when I made 3 commitments:
1. To love unconditionally and openly, without agendas.
2. To live with honesty, integrity, and character.
3. To surround myself with friends others who do the same.
And so, Air BNB Hosting is so much more about sharing my space. It's about connecting, and loving and growing, and learning and walking a cool little path together, if only for a moment.
