Amazing stay -- went to Cambodia with my 15 year old son and this was the best home stay I've ever been par of. The host and his family were absolutely wonderful and worth getting to know. They also spent countless hours with us showing off the neighborhood, city, temples and more. I have few recommendations to make in general but here's one; if you go to siem reap and want to get to know the country from a locals perspective, stay here...don't think twice, this is the place.

Phen's homestay was a fantastic experience! Before arriving at the homestay he took us to meet Monks and perform meditation. He and his family are excellent hosts and welcomed us into their home. The facilities at the homestay were great and I would highly recommend a visit. Phen took us to anywhere we wanted to go in his Tut-Tut and laid on a delicious BBQ for us. Anyone wanting to have a glimpse into Cambodian life this is the perfect way to do it. James - 21 Couldn't have asked for a better stay! Phen and his family and village were so welcoming and everything we needed he sorted without a bother. He took us to visit the monks and learn about meditation as a request, which id recommend. The BBQ was amazing and he took us to buy all the ingredients which was a fantastic opportunity to see the market and pay local prices! He has lots of knowledge to share and is a very inspirational man. Not only do you get a traditional roof over your head but a tuk tuk and knowledge on where to go! We decided to take half a day to chill at the house and it was the perfect spot to do so! Highly recommend a visit, I hope to return in the future :) Alice -22 Phen and his family were so friendly to us, they went out of there way to make us feel welcome. Phen took us all over Cambodia in his tuk tuk for us to see what Cambodia life is about and also took us to book bus tickets which was very helpful for us. It was also very nice to try and eat traditionally Cambodian food's, overall they stay was very enjoyable and would definitely recommend it! Natalie- 21 Phen, his wife and the whole village were great hosts and made our stay very comfortable. If you want to experience village life, phen's homestay and local tours are perfect. Would highly recommend! Laura-22 Really lovely homestay, very welcoming host, delicious home-cooked food and an overall fantastic experience. Phen couldn't have done more to help us during our visit from driving us to Angkor Wat at 5am to suggesting local eateries with the most fantastic soup I've ever eaten. Alex and dani - 21/22

Phen's homestay was a brilliant experience! His home is beautifully authentic. If you are looking to see the real Cambodia then look no further! The location was great. We could easily get to many of the most beautiful sights in Cambodia including Angkor Wat. It was also very easy to get to and from the airport. Phen is a real pillar of the community and one of the most kindhearted people I have ever met. His focus through the stay was to have us worry as little as possible, which he achieved! His knowledge of the area priceless and there is no way we could have seen the amount that we did in the same detail without him. Phen (and his friend Mr. Lau) gave us tour after tour on their tuk tuk's which was by far the best way to travel in Cambodia. We were welcomed into the community, meeting Phen's family and locals from the area. They were all fantastic and interesting people! Phen is an extremely generous man, he gave so much to us over our stay and expected nothing in return. Any donations that we gave he channels directly back into his local community. By the end of the trip we genuinely felt as if we had made a real friend in Phen and I intend to return to visit him again!

Staying in Sokphen's humble traditional accommodation is a pure immersion into the life of Cambodian villagers around Siem Riep. The hut house reflects the standard of living of the majority of villagers, although is somewhat upmarket in comparison to Sokphen's family home next door (Just a note that the sleeping area is up a flight of external stairs, with the bathroom accessed externally on ground level just under the top level). However, the lack of westernised 'comforts' is well and truly made up for by the authentic traditional home cooked breakfasts and evening meals that are included in the price and cooked fresh by Sokphen's wife Pho, Sokphen's amazing hospitality and 'nothing is a problem' attitude, the locality so close to Angkor ruins, and having Sokphen and his tuk tuk at your disposal anytime day and night. We travelled with our 9 and 12 year old daughters, and 15 year old son and they were humbled by how little these villagers have but how rich their 'hearts' were. Such a great opportunity to immerse the family into the real day to day lives of villagers in a safe and supported way and still have easy access to all the sights. The value is incredible, including accommodation, all the bottled water you can drink, Sokphen and his tuk tuk each and every day including to and from airport, and breakfast and evening meals. Sokphen's English is conversational and so he is your own personal interpreter and tour organizer also. If you need luxury, air conditioning and are not interested in being humbled by these stoic villagers, then this accommodation is not for you. If you want to be a traveler and not a tourist, experience Cambodia on a deeper level, and arrive back home feeling blessed with how lucky you and your family are, then this is the experience for you.

I have been a Tuk-tuk driver for many years in Siem Reap and I speak both English and Japanese. Through my new homestay I hope to help my village to make improvements as we are all poor.
