I usually stay Airbnb as a party of 1 but not this time. I booked Jimmy’s apartment for its capacity to sleep 4 adults. My group was running the Rock & Roll Brooklyn Half Marathon the following morning. Three of us drove into Brooklyn with one of our cars using the private driveway while the other two cars used the free street parking. During this trip, we never took the subway. While standing on a street corner, headed to the Brooklyn Museum for the race start, a few taxis passed us at 6:15am Saturday morning while we waited for our $11 UberX ride to arrive. When I was looking for accommodations for this race, these were my requirements : a driveway, capacity to sleep 4, and close to the Brooklyn Museum. Jimmy’s 2nd floor apartment is gorgeous, with two bedrooms that can each sleep two. Living room/kitchen combo with a large flat screen tv, desktop computer with free internet access, free wifi is a bit slow but works just fine, kitchen with a single serve coffee maker, little creamers, a water cooler, and full sized refrigerator & freezer with some beverages in it for the residents (very nice touch!). Jimmy’s photos are true to reality. Bathroom is modern, beautiful and nicer than most hotels I’ve stayed. I booked this apartment 7 months before the race. I asked many questions before the booking and a lot more 72 hours before our arrival. Jimmy was very prompt in replying. I read Jimmy’s reviews and some said that the driveway is narrow. From the reviews, the metropolitan NYC group of us doubted the narrowness of the driveway. How narrow can it really be? Well, my friend found it narrow and challenging. I imagine it would be easy to maneuver if he got to practice parking here every day with his compact car but as a first timer and only timer in this driveway, it was tough. So, use your friends to guide you into your private parking space so you do not scratch the exterior of your car. If you arrive at Jimmy’s in multiple cars, there is free street parking all over the place and our two other cars were safe and undisturbed the following morning while the people walking around the neighborhood may give you an off vibe. As a single female arriving after the sun set, I wheeled my suitcase from my parked car adjacent to the local park over to Jimmy’s without issue. No one bothered me. In this part of Brooklyn, there were only a handful of people out and about so it made me hyper aware. If I stayed in Manhattan, I would not even notice others around me as there would be so many more people out and about.
The price was right for my group and Jimmy’s place is so pretty and well maintained. Jimmy offers more amenities than other Airbnb locations I have stayed at thus far. I would definitely stay here again.
